Cook had the night off so I thought I'd knock one out this morning.

Good effort, especially for a workday.
Looks great with the exception of the mushrooms.

Call me a crazed fundamentalist, but I think they should be cooked.

They look a bit raw and grim to me, I'm afraid.

I could cope with 'rooms like that. Should be better done but it's not the end of the world.

The bigger problem for me is that that is a very dry plate. It needs some beans* to provide some dampness.

(* - Beans, definitely not 'oops. And most certainly not those Boops monstrosities.)

Neither moist 'schrooms, cooked tomatoes nor brown sauce are lacking in damp-ness on this very neat plate of breakfast. I surmise that you, Sir, simply enjoy your breakfast sloppy.

Beans with a friend egg? Not on my watch hurl Beans and scramblers. Possible, rather not.

I have been complimented on my mushrooms by people who've tasted the smile

He has a point, though. Mopping up all the bean / 'oop / yolky goodness with a slice of bread rounds off the meal nicely. If all you're doing is chasing around grease deposited on the plate I highly doubt you're going to be satisfied! I'd like to try your suggestion of fried halloumi, though, it sounds like a good addition biggrin

Or grilled - make sure that it's a finger's thickness, if so.

I'm using the fact I live on the Continent as all the justification I need to add cheese to breakfasts. They have a lot to offer the great breakfast menu, these Europeans.

But I'm with you on the pain au chocolat.

Go large, or go home. I am in particular admiration of the no-holds-barred approach to buttering toast, albeit with cheap margarine.

Pain au chocolat is a last resort and a guilty pleasure. An amuse bouche until one can get ones chops around a 'spoons sized breakfast.
