Scrambled eggs with the now traditional Emmenthal, granary toast and mushrooms gently braised in butter.

No chocolate products or ketchup to sully the joy of a fine breakfast.

We should get together at Crossfire in town one Saturday....

Spoons large breakfast plus and unlimited coffee managed 6 lattes regretted that many after.

6 lattes ,phew I’d have to follow up with six san miquel to take the edge off caffeine, and several visits to the bog as the meal fired straight through me

Today's rushed effort. I had to make the best of a heartbreaking yolk split. It made it nice and neat to fry though in olive oil and (cow milk) butter. Sprinkled with a little posh pepper too.

A very acceptable breakfast, well done. As an aside, what other sort of butter is there?

The bolide household staple is goat milk butter from st. helens farm. It's far less rich than cows', more mild and lightly salted. Goats can't be intensively farmed either, so it's full of nutrients. More pertinent, it's tasty.

Interesting. Sadly I've not yet found a single goat product that doesn't taste of, well ... goat.

These plates are a hangover from our first home many years ago. Ikea jobbies which I've always hated, but our ethnic upbringing physically deters us from disposing of something that remains functional, despite being ugly as sin. We keep all bric a brac cutlery (more IKEA) and crockery in the kitchen for simple use, as opposed to the posh plates that were rather deflatingly likened to paper plates on this, most reductionist, of threads.

They are, however, perfect for the grab and go necessities as this morning proved to be.

My separation saw me getting the kitchen items that my daughter brought back from Uni; you can imagine my first, well second I suppose, 'man kitchen'. It delivers a resilience, as well as a clear indicator of what's important to you when you do it yourself.

In that case, it's probably the butter to beat all butters.
