Yes, compared to something like the supermarkets value/basic range they do have more meat, probably a lot better quality also. However, even though a fan of the mcDonalds burger ( the bog ones at least) I have to say a proper rare burger from a good burger place will beat them on taste, or home made of course.

I can eat one and quite like the taste, the gherkin obviously giving it that taste you associate, but at the end I am still rather hungry and never smack my lips saying "wow". I still freqent them though.

It's interesting how big a debate the quality of meat in fast food burgers is...

Let's not even think about Pot Noodles (I'm having my second of the day just now)

Maybe not so healthily - 4 jumbo sausages, 1 pack of potato "cross-cuts" from Morrisons and 2 mince pies for today's lunch. (On top of the sausage/bacon sandwich for breakfast).

I've been challenged to eat the rest of the box of 6 mince pies this afternoon too...

Are you on some kind of mission/race to see who gets to A&E first? I think its things like the pastry and frying oils and not the meat that will clog you up and get you to the front of the queue first.

I like the odd McDonalds or bag of chips, but I know approx what my vital signs are doing, I work out 3 times a week and I also eat plenty of organic stuff at home (oh, including home made cakes!). Plus I don't have a hereditary risk of heart disease.

Pity there are no Hardees or In'n out Burger outlets in the UK - they make tastier burgers than both of these.

Not keen on fungal enzymes then? Better stop eating bread... yeast is a fungal enzyme.

And dimethylpolysiloxane is an anti-foaming agent, also used in diet cola. So put down that Coke.

My eating habits are, as you can see, apalling - I need to change, but I rather like comfort eating...

I've just snacked though - Just one sandwich made with a pack of Parma ham

If you don't like it, fine. But to say that it is mechanical slurry sh!t is way off the mark.

A gourmet meal or haute cuisine it isn't, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of the individual components, the suppliers, or how the stuff is put together. If Jamie Oliver set out to do a hatchet job on McDonalds, along the same lines as his turkey twizzlers, he would have to give up, admit defeat and acknowledge he was wrong.

Yes, it's unhealthy in as much as it is a burger and fries, but a burger and fries from a Michelin starred restaurant will be no better, and there's no way it could taste as good biggrin

Propaganda worthy of Goebbels here...hehe

You sound like a junkie defending his fix! It must be all the healthy natural ingredients in them:

100% beef patty, bun, Cultured milk, water, cream, sodium citrate, salt, sodium aluminum phosphate, sorbic acid (preservative), sodium phosphate, cheese culture, artificial color, acetic acid, enzymes, lecithin, red ripe tomatoes, distilled vinegar, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, water, salt, natural flavors (vegetable source), vinegar, water, mustard seed, salt, turmeric, paprika, spice extractives, cucumbers, water, distilled vinegar, salt, calcium chloride, sodium benzoate or potassium sorbate (preservative), natural flavor (vegetable source), alum, polysorbate 80, turmeric, onions, salt, pepper, enriched bleached wheat flour (malted barley flour, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, iron, folic acid), water, high fructose corn syrup, yeast, vegetable oil (partially hydrogenated soybean, corn, canola, and/or cottonseed). Contains 2% or less of salt, wheat gluten, malted barley flour, alpha amylase, mono- and diglycerides, propionic acid, phosphoric acid, calcium sulfate, ammonium chloride, monocalcium phosphate, ascorbic acid, azodicarbomide, corn flour, soy flour, potato flour, calcium peroxide, diacetyl tartaric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides, ethoxylated mono- and diglycerides, silicon dioxide, sodium steryol 2 lactylate, fungal enzymes, emulsifiers, sodium or calcium propionate (as a preservative), sesame seeds, potatoes, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, natural flavor (beef source), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (to preserve natural color). Cooked in partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, (may contain partially hydrogenated soybean oil and/or partially hydrogenated corn oil and/or partially hydrogenated canola oil and/or cottonseed oil and/or sunflower oil and/or corn oil). TBHQ and citric acid added to help preserve freshness. Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an anti-foaming agent.

Yummy! The 'fungal enzymes' and 'dimethylpolysiloxane' particularly set my mouth watering! biggrin

Nonetheless, I would defend your right to eat this factory processed industrial sub-food should you choose to, to my last breath just as I am sure you would defend my right to not consider it fit to feed my dog! smile
nothing mechanical in there though........

I wouldnt advise it as a daily diet but to slag it off as never when you prob eat in restaurants / supermarkets that are just as bad makes me laugh. everything in moderation..

oh and news for your dog the burgers that fall on the floor at the factory they sell for dog food tongue out
Nothing mechanical? You do realise the official definition of meat used by McDonalds is "'skeletal muscle with naturally included or attached tissue including rind, tendon, sinew, skin and cheeks" don't you? I wonder how they make tendon, sinew and rind into burgers without mechanical processing?

I very rarely eat fast food and don't buy food from supermarkets.

As for my dog, it's a good job I don't feed him dog food isn't it? wink
You may not eat fast food but others have to, more or less. Who on Earth is going to pay £3 for a sandwich whose origins are a lot less tracable than a Mcdonalds when you can have a good warm meal with a drink for round about the same price. Mind you, anyone that chooses McD's over Burger King is mental.

And as for not buying anything from supermarkets, I am calling you a liar. Or a fool

My ideal McDonald's order is:

Large Big Mac meal, coke, fries.

Double cheeseburger 'chaser'

4 nuggets to dip in some sweet curry sauce.

The bds stopped doing mild mustard years ago

I like that smile

I tend to go with either a "Great with bacon & cheese" meal or a Quarterpounder meal with cheese wedges followed by a cheeseburger - Often with a Latte.
