Lets say I make a Jacket Potato at home in the oven but I want to eat it tomorrow at work (where I can microwave it to warm it up)

What is the ebst way to store it for the next 18 odd hours - fridge?

Will it go off/taste like crap either way?

I wouldn't just microwave an uncooked potato because they don't taste nice!

Let it cool naturally and then stick it in the fridge. Your problem is going to be that any crispness in the skin will get nuked by the microwave and it will go soggy.

Too late, in all probability, but those plastic air-tight containers (Tupperware or similar) are great for this- the main thing is to keep the air away from the food.

And, whack it in the fridge as soon as you can pick it up is safest- time at room temperature is bad, and modern fridges and freezers can cope with the load*. Just don't plonk it on your raw chicken.

  • You can do a little better by putting the container in a sink full of cold water for a few minutes to cool it more quickly.

The skin will go slightly soggy if you nuke it but will still have the tough(crunchy = edible) outer crust.

As said before just cool it quickly and it will last up to 3 days or more

IMO, they never taste quite right when re-heated!

Cut it into quarters, cover in a few choice spices, deep fry/shallow fry. Dry on kitchen paper. Chill and pack in airtight container.

Eat cold with accompanying dip / crisps / sandwiches etc!

Sour cream and salsa would be my fave! thumbup

Sod it!! It's only lunch so either cook it in the mic for a few mins at work or buy something from the canteen. Nom nom nom but have a really decent meal when you get home to compensate. Job dne!!
