I have spent the last 10 days trying to find fresh Rosemary, to the point where I am popping into supermarkets when passing and incurring the ensuing chaos that all the last minute prats have created, and still I cannot find it anywhere. Supermarkets, convenience stores, even the market.

It's for 'the' day, and though I have dried stuff, it has to be fresh. The tatties have to be done with crushed garlic, rock salt and loads of rosemary. Nothing else will do.

Is anyone else struggling to obtain the stuff this year? I can't recall ever having a problem before?

The rosemary bush in someones garden that I pass while walking the dog is looking ripe for a smash and grab under the veil of darkness this evening as it stands!!

Why dont you just knock on the door and ask? As the old saying goes, dont ask, dont get.

Try a garden centre for a living plant of your own, if not then go knock on that neighbours door!

Depending on when you want it I can happily stick a branch or two in a jiffy bag.... PM me if that helps.

Why not go and ask?

I have three large bushes and therefore have an inexhaustible supply of rosemary. If you are anywhere near me you would be welcome to some...(Basingstoke)...but I'll bet if you ask anyone with a bush they'd let you have some. You can't need fresh rosemary often enough to run out if you have your own bush...

Lets just say I don't see eye to eye with said neighbour, hence knocking on the door, wishing them a Merry Christmas and asking for a clipping isn't really an option sadly!

I also do have a herb bed planned for next year for all my herb needs.

Just snip a bit from the inside and nobody will be any the wiser.

We have a 6 foot high bush in the back garden that grows constantly. If you lived near me I'd have no problem with you coming and asking to have a little bit, and then I'd say no.

I've got loads too if you're anywhere near Surrey. There's also a 10 foot high bay hedge if you need fresh bay leaves.

Garden centre as previously mentioned - bagged one two weeks ago reduced smile

I have had problems with fresh sage however, and marscarpone (not for the same recipe i hasten to add) and gave up.

Yeah, if you are near the ring road in Bristol, ring the bell and you can have as much rosemary as you need!

I don't see the point to bay leaves, but if you've got a rosemary bush going spare.... hehe
