Hello,

Before going back to uni I'm trying to cook as many big meals as I can (e.g. Chili) with my parents' food rather than my own. hehe

To help me complete my mission I need some of those small disposable containers that you get from the local Indian or wherever - does anyone know where I can buy these? I preferably want the reusable plastic ones so I can freeze my portions, wash the container, then re-use them.

Thanks,

HH

How many do you want ?

Either bung the local take-away a couple of quid and they'll probably give you a handful or, if you are going to do a proper job of depleting the parents' food stocks, then try a wholesaler for buying in bulk..

Aldi had some of these in last week, foil containers with card lids.

If you have or know someone with a Costco membership you can buy them buy the thousands. Good quality Freezer bags would work well for things like Chili and stews etc.

Also if you have a Wing Yip near you they also sell a variety of packs of take-away meal containers.

I buy mine on ebay. By the pack of 50 they work out at about 10p each including lids, delivered. I've used this guy before and they turn up within 2 days in a solid little box.

You can get them in the poundshops for about 16p each but delivered direct to your door is the way forward.

The no2 size containers are more than big enough for a portion of chilli/spag bol/curry and that is from someone who likes a decent portion.

I'm with MC with this - by some of those decent O-ringed lockable ones (I am a fan of the Lock & Lock ones, but now the supermarket sell copies of them), which don't leak so you can take soups etc to work without your bag smelling of curry!
They will pay for them selves with not that much use, rather than one time use ones which end up as landfill. Which cancels out you owning a petrol guzzling car wink
