Been doing my online shopping Sunday evenings for the last few years, every Sunday for Monday night delivery, and i've just gone to check out and there aren't any slots until Thursday!!!

fked up my entire week that has!

Was looking forward to the moroccan lamb curry, steak and homemade chips, meatballs and pasta, spanish omlette and beans on toast hehe

Will now have to raid the freezer for waffles and frozen peas all week frown

How about doing something revolutionary and actually go to the supermarket?

What! and expose myself to the various idiots who convene in such places? no thanks, drives me mad.

i've just done my entire shop in around 20 mins, it would take me more than that to get to the supermarket, plus i'd be picking up various stuff I don't need and wasting money.

I don't do supermarkets unless entirely necessary, thankfully I can get my meat and fish on the way home.

I'm the same, I don't do supermarkets if I can help it, mainly because people just don't care about other people's property... I'm sick of getting trolley dings, scratches, or dents in the car from people opening their car doors too far. Even parking away from the rest of the cars doesn't work - inevitably someone in a 4x4 will park next to you and smack their doors into the side of your car. And in this weather, parking in a car park with hundreds of people who don't know how to drive in slippy conditions?... well, it doesn't bear thinking about.

I placed an order on Saturday and the earliest delivery I could get was Thursday. Sainsburys was the same... will have to pop to the Marks & Spencer shop at the BP station near my work tomorrow to pick up a few essential bits & bobs to tide me over until Thursday. At least there I can park next to the pump and fill up the tank at the same time!

I tried on Friday to get our usual slot for Sunday morning with Sainsburys. They also didn't have any available until THursday.

Went down to Sainsbury's instead in Melksham and it was like a battlefield on Saturday morning.

the mentality of people when the weather becomes inclement is astonishing

it appears that a few inches of snow is pretty much the beginning of the apocalipse or a nuclear winter and that people must panic buy everyting they find on a shelf in supermarkets regards of what it is

I have to say that on Saturday, the shop was just the same as it would have been any other week, Mind you I hear one assistant saying to a customer, it wasn't the shoppers stripping the shelves bare it was that they couldn't get supplies themselves. I think at the time he was referring to vegetables that they couldn't get out of the ground.

Indeed. I made the fatal mistake of going over to Sainsburys on Friday lunchtime as it was my turn to pick up a few office essentials.

Old people were going wild in there. It was genuinely like watching wild animals. Old codgers struggling to push trolleys crammed to the brim with UHT milk, soup, veg and water. It level of genuine panic on their faces was utterly unbelieveable.

I can understand why more people are buying online at the moment hence why you will have to wait a bit longer if you insist that you can't possibly go to the supermarket for yourself...

Ocado failed us on Saturday night - 7-8pm delivery got stuck in some snow and couldn't get to us in time for 11pm.

What really galls is that I jumped out of bed at 8am on my lie-in morning (2 young kids!) to help shift an Ocado van on Saturday morning that had also ignored the good areas of road and got stuck in thick snow outside our house banghead

So theres thick snow outside your house yet you expect the delivery van to get to you. Even worse you used the same company that got stuck outside your house only a couple of days earlier.

I'd have thought if the delivery slots were so booked up there's be less people in the supermarket....

Because of the snow last week thousands of people had their orders cancelled and rescheduled, add that to the increase of orders from people who don't want to brave the snow and you've got a colossal backlog. I used to work in one of the Tesco call centres and the same thing would happen every time it snowed, utter chaos.

I always find this funny people who are unable or not prepared to go out in the snow themselves but then expect a 3.5 ton rwd van to get to them.
There's absolutely no problem driving on our road, so long as you avoid the piles of snow.

This driver singularly failed to use his eyes, then his brain to control his arms and guide his delivery lorry around the object blocking his path, which incidently was highlighted with a hi-vis jacket.

Actually, you 2 also ignored what your eyes and brain told you - or didn't bother reading the bit where I said he avoided the good areas of road and drove in to the pile of snow I mentioned.
