Sushi-Hiro, opposite ealing COMMON tube (not Ealing Broadway!) has been rated as one of London's best sushi bars for years. You will need to book though, any night of the week as its tiny. Five stars from Time Out.

very good though, and miles better than any other japanese food around the area.

It aint gastro-central I'm afraid. If you are feeling brave you could venture into Alperton, which is a bit like walking out of Ealing and into Bangalore.

Sakonis is there, which is a good veggie indian place - south indian style vegetarian food, with fresh smoothies / lassies.

The Shahi Nan Kebab opposite Southall BR. It's essentially a take-away, but has a few tables inside. Less than a tenner for two. Legendary, and rightly so.

Stricly no parking! I used eat there as a kid 30 odd years ago. Laguna used to be a good indian restaurant, junction of Uxbridge Road and Culmington Road. However, if you want REAL curry I would recommend Gifto's Lahore Karahi or my wife's choice almost across the road 'Mirch Masala'. Both on the Uxbridge Road in Southall between Dane road and W. End Road. More upmarket Southall restaurant is Madhu's Brilliant Restaurant.

A good chinese I remember growing up was Maxim on Northfield Avenue. There are also some nice Japanese places on Uxbridge Road by Ealing Common Station. Restaurante Belvedere was supposed to be good, but I have never eaten there. It is on the Gyratory on the corner of Twyford Abbey Road.

Other places I would check would be Chiswick, Stand on the Green, Kew and Richmond which are all in easy reach in the evenings once the traffic has gone.

my info may be a little out of date, I have not lived there for a while and only occasionally eat there now.

Is Laroash still good (next to Broadway station)? Used to love a kebab in fresh naan after a night out.

Not exactly "dinner out" though smile
