I love a good sandwich for lunch at home. I know they can be a bit unhealthy, but they're easy to make and can be enjoyed with a cup of tea or any other beverage of choice really. You can also have a sandwich to suit every budget, from the simple ham butty to a high quality hot steak bap.

So what's your favourite? I need some inspiration.

I have a few:

1 - A nice, soft Warburtons bap with Stilton & apricot cheese, coleslaw (always Asda Extra Special, must be the creme fraiche), and rocket. Damn nice, with a pint of cold milk too. (Yes, I'm a northern monkey)

2 - Same bap above, but with nice ham, grated cheddar, and coleslaw. I eat these quite a lot.

3 - Plain white Warburtons bread, with corned beef and mayonnaise paperbag

4 - Turkey & Cranberry

Bring it on.

Yes. Off work, and bored.

One of my usuals for a lunctime (from the local 'Bappery') is 'The Cheese and Cheese':

Multigrain Crusty (Torpedo) Roll - Freshly Baked
A light coating of the house mayo (slightly herby)
Thin sliced emmanthal
Thick sliced chunks of brie
Roughly crushed up hazel nuts
Honey drizzled over
Cress to top it off.

Crusty baguette split down its length

On one side put a warm breaded chicken escalope

Then add some very very crispy bacon

add generous dollops of full fat mayo

finish off with slices of swiss cheese

Put under grill for 3-4 minutes until cheese melts and bacon and chicken crisps further

Put the other grilled half of baguette back on and tuck in

Start to feel that warm feeling of arteries clogging

(Works as a hangover cure too)

Comfort sandwich?

White bread.
(Your personal preference in 'spread')
Peanut butter (crunchy)
Mature cheddar (mature red leics is good too)
(Optionally) sliced cucumber.

Close runner up:

White bread
Peanut butter
Corned beef
Sliced pickled beetroot.

No favourite but some good ones:

Bacon and Avocado. (Optional chicken).
Hand cut ham, Mature cheddar cheese, good pickle, mayo.

STEAK. Bugger minute steaks. Get a real steak and hammer it thin. Flash fry. White bread, mayo, onions.

Ciabatta bread, home made burger - every last one of the trimmings.

Depending on mood;

When I make pulled pork, I make a bugger-off giant joint of pig, and once pulled, it freezes perfectly. Ideal for sandwiches. It's slow smoked with hickory and apple wood.

A good handful of it, reheated in the oven, on a poor quality white bun. A Good dollop of my favourite commercial BBQ sauce (Famous Dave's Devil's Spit), and a dollop of coleslaw on that.

Thick smoked back bacon on either fresh warm french bread, or those part-baked ones which you finish off in the oven yourself. 6 rashers, some nice sweet tomatoes and gobs of english mustard.

Wholemeal bread with ham, tettuce and tomatoes with mustard.

Roll with garlic mayo, sliced roast beef (or rare steak) with grilled onions and roasted peppers.

Do like a simple bap filled with corned beef and sliced tomatoes now and again too.

White Bread

Strawberry jam with cheddar. Ratio of jam to cheese must be correct.

Dont knock it untill you have tried it.

So many tasty sarnies to choose from but ultimately there can be only one...

Thickly sliced fresh white crusty loaf spread with real butter
Crisp freshly cooked smoked bacon
A drizzle of brown sauce.

Bacon sarnies are good.

I also like the following;

Stilton(the more aggressive the better) and pickle(Something lumpy, not branston if possible), ideally on some thick slices of crusty white bread.

Mozzarella, basil leaves(pesto makes an acceptable substitute) and cherry toms in a baguette or panini; if you have one of those poncy panini toasters use that, failing that lob it in the microwave for a minute followed by a couple of minutes under the grill.

So many favourites to name.

Tuna in a mix of seafood cocktail and salad cream and mixed with finely sliced lettuce before being laid in a soft just baked baguette.

Hot chicken and sweetcorn relish.

Ham, cheese and pickle

Corned beef and sweetcorn relish

Proper blow your gonads off cheddar cheese and pickle (or cucumber in the summer)

And for an oddball, marmite and cucumber. It just works.
