Lots and lots of smoked streaky bacon on still warm thick cut home made bread, buttered so thickly you can see teeth marks when you bite into it and a good squeeze of ketchup.

And a vast mug of tea

lick

Or the Club Dear from the Carnegie deli, simply gargantuan.

Chicken, grated cheese and mayo. Gorgeous.

And of course the classic BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato for us carnivores... or you could try the veggie version - Bread, Lettuce, Tomato!)

Big crusty roll
2 sausages
bacon
fried egg
mustard
ketchup
Sounds great but with a little twist.

Half a french loaf
4 sausages
4 rashers of bacon
ketchup
brown sauce
Not bad, but on a Friday morning at work we send out for cripplers:-
2 sausages
2 rashers of bacon
2 thick slices of black pudding
2 eggs
large spoonful of beans
large spoonful of mushrooms
all in a third of a stottie lick nurse charge up the paddles

Hot roast beef with mustard and horseradish in crusty white bread
Cold rare roast beef with lots of salt in ditto
Strong cheddar and red onion in ditto
BLT made with crisp streaky bacon in ciabatta (dont butter it - you can 'lose' a shocking amount of butter in the texture of the bread)
The aforementioned salt beef and pickle
Cold sliced sausages (pork with herbs/linconshire etc)and mustard in white bread
Tenderised steak with sliced fried mushrooms and raw onion in ciabatta
But sometimes only a bacon and egg roll will do.

I just need to lose the potato cakes, 2 rashers of bacon, add some beans and put it in a stottie (I don't know what that is).

As of today...

One of those ciabatta buns morrisons (I know...) sell, some PROPER sausage meat, sage and onion stuffing, and some gammon, preferably still warm from cooking.

slice bun, butter, a layer of stuffing, a thin smear of apple sauce or mustard (or if you want to try something more truly delightful a redcurrant jelly. Don't ask me why, it just works!). Oh, and lots of the still warm gammon.

No finer sandwich has ever passed my lips.

Oh,and as much as I LOVE bacon sandwiches, I'm of the opinion gammon knocks it into a cocked hat.

My ultimate favourite is pastrami, rocket and philadelphia on wholemeal.

Followed closely by bacon and black pudding.
Also mature cheddar & pickle.

It's a binlid-sized bun of bread from Newcastle. I wouldn't have thought a man of your calibre would bin the potato cakes, ey?

Get it eaten.

the original New Orleans mufalata sandwich takes some beating. You can't get the right bread in Europe so we make do with ciabatta or the home made dough from the breadmaker to get it as close as possible.

Otherwise, toasted ham, cheese and mushroom (fried) toasted / grilled on Mrs FiF's home made bread, assembled with the butter on the outside before dry frying until golden brown and the cheese all melted. English mustard also an integral part of the assemblage.

Finally Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Fish Fingers (ginormous twice the size of normal fish fingers) inserted into bread product of choice.

Just had a Chicken Mango Bloomer (chicken breast pieces, mango chutney in mayonnaise & mixed red lettuce) from Greggs.

Marvellous, enjoyed that.
