Tutti Frutti ice cream
Discussion
SO I can't seem to find any for sale in UK - so I've decided to make some.
I have this recipe from Waitrose:
http://www.waitrose.com/recipe/Tutti_Frutti_Ice_Cr...
2 egg whites
120g vanilla-flavoured white caster sugar
300ml double cream
2 tablespoons kirsch
1 tablespoon Amaretto di Saronno
60g natural glacé cherries, sliced
60g ready-to-eat dried apricots, diced
30g candied angelica, slivered
30g candied pineapple, sliced
30g candied or preserved ginger, slivered
30g seedless raisins, chopped
60g toasted almonds, slivered
30g pistachios, roughly chopped
But does anyone know where I can get candied angelica and candied pineapple. Waitrose don't stock them despite it being their recipe, and google hasn't offered any suggestions.
TIA

I've noticed Waitrose is good at including ingredients in their recipes they don't sell
Anyway, candied fruit is actually not that difficult to make. You just simmer the fruit in a highly concentrated sugar solution for a while and then dry it very slowly in a very low oven. I haven't done pineapple myself, but I'd have a go.
The angelica is best got from a cake shop though.
I'm really surprised you couldn't find the ready made tutti frutti ice cream though. Did you try Marine Ices?

Amazon US has candied pineapple:

Not sure if they deliver to the UK though.

Now where now seems to sell Tutti Frutti - but I'll give Marine a try. Though to be honest I'm keen now to try for myself.

You've got me craving for it now! Let us know if you do find it anywhere won't you, otherwise I'm going to have to make some myself!
Marine Ices don't seem to sell it. So DIY is the way to go. I've got all the ingredients bar candied pineapple - but I've found dried pineapple so that may work. If not I'll make that as well. With regard to Neopolitan - you can certainly get Astronaut stuff:

You and a generation have indeed missed out:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spangles
Old English were may favourite.

gino ginelli is no more? Sad day.
I'm pretty sure that they killed the brand off to bring in carte d'or, a foolish mistake if ever there was one...'Gino, O, Gino, Gin elli...'
I can't believe there is no more Tutti Frutti in the UK anymore. Indeed, as sad day.

We've missed out, I agree!
I've been waiting years for someone to start this thread. Seriously, I'm not joking. I'd always wanted to start my own but figured it'd come across a bit ghey. Whatever happened to this ice cream? My grandparents always used to get it, then it just disappeared. What were those chewy coloured bits in it? what was that flavour?
