All been well the mum is getting me one of these for my birthday but still undecided on medium or large.
Did that lumpwood really last 6 hours? I barely get 2hrs on my weber.
Probably more like 8 as I still have plenty left. Go for the Large, I got the Mini Max and the cooking area is nearly the same as a Medium, I also got a Large and cannot wait to fire it up, just need to find a couple of mates who can help me move it from the garage.Did that lumpwood really last 6 hours? Will do, thanks,Amazed at how efficient if is with the charcoal even on that small one will probably be even better on the larger versions.
Do report back once up and running.

Would a beer can chicken work on a weber poultry roaster but with rum instead of beer does anyone know please? Likely to work or taste nasty? I was thinking a carribean style dry rub and then the rum.
Unless you put the rum, or beer, directly on to the skin in the marinade, or in to the cavity, it won't take on the flavour from the booze. Whilst in principle it is believable that the liquid steams and keeps the bird moist - it is in fact, absolute bks. Try two birds - one just seasoned with your favourite rub. The second with the rub plus the beer or rum.
Doubtful you'll tell the difference in flavour or succulence.

Where is the cheapest place to buy a big green egg? Can they only be bought from the official site?
John Lewis, Harrods and high end garden centres sell them but the bundles which include all the bits that you really need work out cheaper direct. They also offer a delivery and installation service as they weigh quite a bit so something to keep in mind if on your own when it arrives. jogon said:

I live on the Wirral. Do you have to use there coal, can't I just buy a bag of bog standard stuff from the lidl?
No but their charcoal is good rather than the bag of dust you get from some places. I managed to get a bundle including griddle and plate warmer at a decent price and a few bags of coal thrown in. Not massive discount but certainly worth hunting about for a deal.tomsugden said:
Where do you live? Official dealers aren't allowed to discount them, but you can get them to throw in some eggcessories, bags of charcoal etc.
