Any opinions on the Costco version of the Kamado? https://www.costco.co.uk/c/Louisiana-Grills-24-60-...
Seems like very good value compared to the Kamado Joe / BGE brands

4.5kg brisket on the webber at the weekend.
First, trim it up
Simple salt and pepper rub and onto the bbq (cooking at 7am) - some whiskey wood chips for smoke
I think i wrapped it around 1pm, and finished around 5pm - then let it site for 90mins (still wrapped)
A bit of a smoke ring
Tasted amazing - and plenty of leftovers for lunch everyday this week!

They had them in store in Oldham last week, I wouldn’t be able to lift it let alone get it in the car!Seems like very good value compared to the Kamado Joe / BGE brands
Went for my first try of smashburgers. Nothing fancy, 20% fat, in balls, salt pepper and cheese on top once flipped. Got to admit, why even bother with normal "fat" burgers when these bad boys can be layered. Mmmmm!!!
Not the best presentation but worth it.

They look great, and I'd agree with you I'm much in favour of a few of these Vs one big one. I need something like that to cook them on my BBQ though. Not the best presentation but worth it.

Some great looking cooks there.
Did anyone try out the 'proper' low and slow kits (pulled pork and ribs) that Sainsbury's trialled last week?
I missed out - but they had input from Marcus Bawdon, and were pukka long cooks, no sous vided precooked meats to be flashed off in 30 minutes.
Really hope they were a success - I know the guys behind it had to put in a huge amount of effort to persuade the bosses that it was worth a shot.

Both great bits of kit. We now use the 47cm as the portable for a day at the beach. I take a bag of preformed 90g/3oz 20% fat beef patties with me and rattle through the lot. Like you've mentioned why bother with anything else when you can make such good burgers, stacked and prefreable to 5Guys/MiccyDs/BKing
Try a sliced blue cheese for a real treat!
Took the plunge on a rotisserie for my kamado recently - first try at duck tonight came out nice!
Has anyone got much experience with these in terms of how best to set them up with deflector plates, dome temperature etc.?
I pushed the coals to the sides for this duck and that worked well, had a bit of a fat fire on my hands last weekend with a joint of pork..!

Tempted by the Aldi smoker that's preorder today. Are they any good?

They're 'OK for the price'...https://www.aldi.co.uk/gardenline-smoker-bbq/p/710...
It's not the thick metal that is common in US offsets, and it'll need some work with some fire rope to properly seal it.
Offsets are also harder work to maintain temp, with more frequent checking and interventions needed.
Finally, it's not a 'reverse flow' offset, so you'll have a gradient of temp within the cooking chamber - hottest closer to the firebox.
All that said, for under £100 you can do some pretty damned awesome cooks on it. If it's a pure smoker you're looking for, I'd personally either spend a bit more on a Pro Q or Napoleon bullet - or see if you can pick one up second hand.

I'll avoid, rather spend more on a decent product. I've never 'smoked' before, so I imagine it'll be harder to get to grips given what you've said.

Have you already got a grill/kettle?
If so, what sort of thing are you planning on doing, and for how many people?

Cool. You can certainly have some great smokes on what you have. Decent dual probe thermometer if you haven't already got one and you're good to go.
If you get into it, then the bullets I mentioned earlier are brilliant - and have the added advantage of leaving your kettle free for grilling whilst you're smoking.

I may have found the most overpriced barbecue product ever.
A few pieces of unfinished steel and a cheap grate. £1k.
