You’ll need that to keep the midgies off!

I'm in Glendaruel - where the midgies go on holiday!

Any tips on the cheapest plancha out there that I could stick on my 57cm weber kettle? I have a custom one already but the logo and griddle sections take up a lot of space. Need something to smash out a load of burgers in one go for a trip later this year.

Could I just grab a suitable square of metal sheet from ebay and season it?

I’m thinking of trying the hexagonal sawdust based charcoal that I read is typically used in Greece and the Middle East as it’s got a long, cooler burn - anyone tried it? Seems quite pricey

Briquettes then? I used to quite like briquettes but have stayed away for decades now after finding out they can have all manner of stuff in them. Charcoal all the way for me now, without any quick lighting nonsense added

No, different - no additives so not like the horrible briquettes! Currently using really high quality charcoal, after using cheaper charcoal before and it’s amazing - but I bbq a lot so wanting to try out new techniques biggrin

I use similar in my Konro - sold as a binchotan substitute.

It's great for the konro as it lasts well, there are no flames and it burns cooler. It's too expensive to use in the Kamado, it's harder to light and for grilling I often want something hotter.

Good to know thanks. I think I want it for my lamb and chicken - for steak I of course want it hotter!

Cheers. Was thinking more along the lines of a square off cut of the right type of metal that covers most of the surface area of the grill but nfi what the right metal is.

On a similar subject what’s the best cheapo vortex aka poortex mod out there? Stainless steel bowl with the base cut out? Want to give it a try with some wings soon

Advice please....

Have a Mastertouch Weber and fancy trying Pizza....

Now, in our house, Pizza is usually chosen because its quick - ie, out the freezer and cooked in 15 mins.

But tastes rank.

Can I use my Weber (with a Pizza stone) and make decent tasty Pizza ?

And can I have ingredients for this thats either in the freezer or store cupboard ?

IE, dont want to make dough everytime and crush the fresh italian tomatoes on the virgins thighs etc.....

Not buying an Ooni etc as just wont have enough use tbh.

Whack a pizza stone on the grill and get a big fire going. You can get ones to fit the middle of the weber grill if you want.
When its red and glowing get cooking.
Lid on vents fully open top and bottom you can easily get to 450f
