Appreciate it some of the food on here looks tremendous but looking for something better compiled so that I can find certain recipes with ease.
I jest biggrin

Not really a fan of books myself as they cost money, but this has been recommended many times, so I bought it and never opened it. It's a pretty cover though, and only curry BBQ food...

This is more about the science and why do cook things a certain way, but also has a lot of basic recipes in it. I think most if not all of the content is available for free on www.amazingribs.com , somehow I prefer real books for cooking with than websites/ebooks.

I got this a couple of Christmases ago. Good step by step instructions (pics too) and enough recipies for rubs abd sauces to make interesting bbq food.

I know it’s not the bbq season right now but managed to get myself a nice masterbuilt 800. Does anyone have any recommendations for bbq cookbooks and tools?
Very nice. I have the 1050 myself and it is always bbq season. I did the Christmas Ham and the chili on Christmas Eve. It's a great bit of kit.

Not many accessories needed for it really. Books wise, this is full of sauces with 20 ingredients but it all tastes absolutely amazing.

A bit late, but bbqed the turkey (approx 5kg) on Christmas Day, added applewood chunks, tasted great, I think the spatchcocking helped stop it dry out as it didn't take too long at all to cook. Probbaly would have been even faster without the roasting tray it was on.

Also did the pigs in blankets and finished the ham off on the bbq too.

Re the beef ribs on the previous page, they look great and I'd agree a good starting point. Beef ribs was the first thing I did on this bbq, I think about the 6 or 7 hours and they were great!

Beef ribs are superb, but I'd also massively recommend ox cheeks, especially doing an 'over the top' chilli...

Tidying up the garden and inspected my mini egg. Turns out it was almost ready to go, with free meat!

Not sure how a bird got in here, the vents were closed. Unless they closed it behind them?

Finally (after nearly 20 years of sidelong glances and lust!) got a kamado... KJ Classic 3, via an amazing deal from a closing down shop. Also got the soapstone for searing, and the do-joe pizza attachment.

Over the top chilli, using the MC Jailhouse Chilli recipe for the first time. Diced shin and 20% mince.

Bloody incredible. I'll keep the Pro Q bullet smoker I've now had for over a decade, cause it's superb for beach grills and taking camping - but the weber Mastertouch I've had nearly 15 years is finally going to get retired...

Funny that.

I started with a Monolith LeChef kamado then bought a Weber .

Bang for buck you can’t beat the Weber.

I use the kamado much more though.

On big bbqs I use the kamado to get the meat to 80% then colour them on the Weber.
Succulent meat.

On a side note. I do chicken strips on the kamado with a water tray underneath to steam it then flash it over high heat for colour and crisp.

Everyone rates that very highly as they can’t u destined how thin chicken strips can be crispy yet moist!

Ffs, I’m hungry now !!

The weber is a cracking bit of kit. I've definitely had my money's worth! Just can't justify it solely for the full size plancha I've got for it. It's lived outside for nearly 15 years, no cover, and still looks bloody good without any actual deterioration. The Pro Q is just as good quality as the weber, it's only the mild steel charcoal basket that's hanging on by a mere thread.

Anything I won't use the Kamado for, I'll use the Pro Q, which is a better smoker than the weber for smaller cooks. Tbf, it'll probably use more fuel than the kamado for the same cook!

Has anyone got, or used a Komado Joe KettleJoe?

Thinking now might be a good time to see if there are any bargains on a charcoal bbq and noticed the KettleJoe is reduced to £259 from £600.

Obviously an easy alternative is a Weber kettle for less than £200.

Will mostly be for day to day bbq (steaks, chicken thighs, burgers etc) with some slow cooks in there too (pork ribs, lamb shoulder)

I haven't, but have had a very good look at one...

It's really nice quality, the slo roller is the same principle as on the KJ Classic and that's utterly brilliant for indirect (and you have much more space than a usual kettle for indirect)

I'd get one over a weber kettle personally.

I need more. Is that a control panel on the left, what is the big chimney cage thing on the right. Does this thing launch nuclear weapons because it looks like it might?

Please give me some details.

It’s one of these https://www.bedsbbq.co.uk/barbecue-shop/Masterbuil...

Control panel on the left, big charcoal basket on the right.

Supposedly light the fire on the right, then set the temp on the control panel and leave it to it it’s own devices
