I didn't know about this until a couple of days ago. 'Pop-up restaurants', where people invite others to dine in their home... I'm hearing there are 'donations' of around £40 per head.

So you turn your gaff into a Cuban paladares and invite half a dozen or so total strangers around.. ?

quite popular on meet up . Not keen myself. It's not the strangers bit that bothers me, it's the thought that I have to enterain wearing clothes as my dhothi tends to put others off. That and insisting they only eat with their right hand facing east with a statue of a crucified vishnu in the corner whilst listening to the best of Mannilow on the radiogram...

might be memoral

i do not know about the money side but we cook genuine indian food that you would never find in a restaurant.
every time we cook for people they love it. my wife and i have a small side business that teaches people to cook in their own home and its a lot cheaper than £40 per head. depends what you want for your money.
food cooked in your typical curry house is pretty poor.the typical punter is more sophisticated these days

Sounds like it could be a giggle if you were one of the diners, maybe not so much for the host!

iirc the fat tongued mockney had a go of this in NYC on his American show

I'd go to one, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with total strangers in my home.

Also, it would have to be a stonkingly good evening for me to put £40 in the box on the way out given that I can eat out at my favourite places for half that.
