Yup....

Cheap vac packed bit of beef from a supermarket.

8/9 hours in the slow cooker, couple of chopped carrots, an onion and a stick of celery. Bay leaf, salt, pepper, Quarter pint of red wine, quarter pint of beef stock.

Remove meat and blast for 15 min in the oven and leave to rest.

Remove / mash the veg into the liquid (we remove) thicken if necessary (we just add granules) - makes the best 'gravy'.

I drop ours in the slow cooker after searing it in a hot pan with a pint of stock, hand full of mushrooms, a sliced onion, few cloves of garlic, a sploosh of red wine and then turn that lot into a gravy with a blender and thicken on the heat while whisking!

Leftover meat gets stuck I a tub with the leftover gravy and then frozen and we use it as quick meals with some mash potatoe and veg lick

Been using ours a lot recently as the kids are back into football season so it's a real help!

Been doing gammon joints in it which having tried various methods, have come to the conclusion simple is best. So soaked overnight, take the fat off, just chuck it in on low on it's own with no other liquid and it's ready hours later, served with cauliflower cheese and veggies. Tends to break up though rather than sliced (which is fine by me).

Stews are always good, and been doing silverside/brisket. Did a variation on this at the weekend that came out well https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/slow-cooker-po...

That Moroccan Lamb one looks great, def trying that this weekend!

Confit duck is a good one for the slow cooker.

Duck legs generously covered in rock salt, then add some duck fat, leave for 6 hours, then oven, grill or fry to crisp the skin up.

The meat just falls off the bone and melts in your mouth.

If you can find giblets throw some of those in and they are beautiful on top of a salad.

Do we have a pressure cooker thread or do we think it could all be handled in this one?

Because, I'm planning a massaman curry some time this week. I've got the Sage fast slow pro and could do it as a slow cooked recipe, but pressure and speed seems more manly.

Had to google: https://www.unilad.co.uk/grub/woman-shares-genius-...

Don't see the point. Slow cooked beans?!

Was it any better?

The beans were a real concern....I thought they may dry out or something, but they were just right.

The benefit of this is that if you want a...erm....fry(?) up for a few people, it's a messy faffy affair with sausages and bacon spitting everywhere, messing up the cooker or grill.

I had 10 sausages and 16 bits of bacon, a mug of beans and a mug of 'shrooms all waiting ready in the morning....just there...waiting to be put on a plate.

So making toast and dry frying a few eggs was proper easy.

Split pea and ham soup and a basic beef stew so far, glad this has been bumped, I clearly need inspiration smile
