And done. Fried off the onions a little with garlic and herbs. Simmered some white wine to get all the flavours out the pan, chucked it all in the slow cooker with some chicken stock. Now to cook for 6-7 hours.
going to do broccoli cheese with it.
Look forward to hearing how you get on with a loin and if it comes out dry. Like the chicken, it's very lean.going to do broccoli cheese with it.
Looks good though

It didn't end up too badly, pulled well. Was a little dry so used poured the juices from the cooker over it. I will get this right soon enough! Maybe I'll try a steak next
That Waitrose butcher wants sacking. They should have said pork shoulder which is far far better for such a recipe.Legend83 said:

I'm considering replacing it with an Instant Pot 9 in 1 as I've always wanted a sous vide, don't have a pressure cooker and like things with buttons. My existing slow cooker is a digital one.
Is anyone here using one of the Instant Pots and how does it compare from a slow cooking point of view? Is it 9 compromises with nothing being that great compared to individual items for the same jobs or OK? Reviews seem "OK" but have a strong American bias so I thought I'd ask for some real world input.
Sorry to bump without dropping in a recipe but this seemed like an appropriate place to ask my question having looked at 463 lesser threads on such things.

I got something similar (can't recall the brand but it was a similar sort of 'named' one) and ended up sending it back after a couple of weeks. Brilliant for porridge, came out with a lovely creamy texture, did a lamb curry in it, quick time with super tender lamb - again fantastic. Trouble was after this, everything we cooked in it tasted/smelt of the curry despite us cleaning everything as best we could. The condensation also dripped right next to where the power cord plugs in, that was probably a design issue with the one we bought and it might not be the case.
Might be time to crack out the slow cooker again.
Spotted this recipe for Stuffed Pepper Soup looks straignt forward enough.

Being American video I need to convert some ingredients
1 lb. ground beef - browned and crumbled on the stovetop and drained
1 red bell pepper - diced
1 green bell pepper - diced
1 sweet yellow onion - diced
2 garlic cloves - minced
30 oz. chicken broth (two-15-oz. cans) or about 4 cups just use stock?
15 oz. can tomato sauce (not paste, make sure it's sauce) is this just passata
14.5 oz. can fire-roasted diced tomatoes
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup uncooked Minute Brand Rice do we have something similar

Last week did a couple of big cooks in the slow cooker to get some meals into the freezer whilst I'm working odd hours. Basically the same recipe for either ox cheeks or short ribs.
Brown off the meat
Take the meat out of the pan and set aside
Add rough cut onion, celery, carrot and leeks cook to soften
Add in a bouquet garni, I usually go for some thyme and parsley stalks, some salt and pepper, careful not to over season as the sauce will be reduced
Deglaze with a splash of red wine vinegar...no more than a table spoon
Give it a few minutes and add in a bottle of red wine, less a glass to drink whilst cooking
Reduce the red wine until there is very little left and starting to go a little sticky
Transfer the beef and mirepoix to the slow cooker
Cover with good beef stock or veal jus, I usually use 2-2.5 litres
Cook for 8-10 hours low
Strain off the liquor and then reduce in a plan until the sauce is lovely and sticky, if the stock if still thin add a little cornflour (1 tbs to 5 tbs water and mix before you add a little and check the thickness.
If you want extra sweetness you can add in some tomato puree, but cook it off before adding the red wine vinegar or it will be bitter.
Edited to add I did 1.5 kg of ox cheeks, cut into 6 cm ish chunks and then 6 beef short ribs.

This isn't a slow cooker recipe but is low and slow in the oven - end result is delicious. I wonder how long it would take in the slow cooker?Hello slow friends! Anyone else chilli recently?

Wow, that looks great! It'll probably be a 12 hour cook on low and maybe 6 on high, the thing you might lose in a slow cooker on low is the caramelisation, but I'd still give it a go.https://www.telegraph.co.uk/recipes/0/smoky-ox-che...
With the inlaws currently staying with us, I'm realizing cooking for 4 adults and a child is much easier if you can just throw everything in a slow cooker and dish it out on mass. As such, I've already cooked my only known slow cooker recipe 3 times in the last week.
Can anyone point me to the best resource for slow cooker recipes? I've had a good look through this thread but ideally, I need recipes or youtube video links to follow as I'm pretty new to cooking like this.
Thanks for any help or input.
