The Sisters of Mercy, imho, did the definitive cover.

Another contributor, many pages ago, posted up a clip of the SoM doing "Emma" by Hot Chocolate.

I've just found on YT a live version of it. fking hell! It is spine tingling
The Sisters were always good for a cover in the early days. Would add Jolene and 1969 to these two as great examples ...

A bit of a country/rock take on Eminem's Lose your self. Amazing performance and really shows all the emotion of the singer.

I put that on a few weeks ago but it may have suffered from being one of the last posts on a previous page.

For the most unlikely of covers I'll submit Richard Thompson's version of Britney Spears' Oops I did it again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4WGsMplGxU

Been following the rise and rise of Mia X Ally since they sprang to viral fame first separately then together.

What happens when you do an electric rock violin and bagpipe cover of a legendary bluegrass hit?

"Better" probably depends on your taste in music but this metal version of Sam Smith's "Unholy" by Nik Nocturnal & Johnny Ciardullo works much better for me...

Nik Nocturnal does a few things like this if you like it and want more of the same.

Of course it may have been mentioned before, but I've just come across Nouvelle Vague's brilliant cover of the Human League's "Don't You want me?"

Bit early for Christmas but turn volume up and close your eyes for Birdy -walking In the air. First heard years ago years ago when I had 5 quiet minutes at 3am in work.

is it wrong that I really like that - the video is great (the opening few minutes is excellent and the 'stinger' is lovely too)

Prep ‘As it Was’ (Harry Styles cover)

For me, to say it’s better than the Harry Styles orig. is like saying a Petrus is better than a Chilean Merlot from JS (probably doing the Merlot disservice there, and me cos I like a Chilean Merlot..)

A (bass) cover of Prep’s cover:

The musician folk here can tell me if her playing really is as awesome as I think it is.
