Might have mentioned this song before?
'Stay With Me'
(Not to be confused, that's not in any way whatsoever, with the Sam Smith dirge with the same title!)

1) Lorraine Ellison's original of 'Stay With Me' in 1966. Recall buying this just as I started my apprenticeship.

2) A year later in 1967 Sharon Tandy covered it - great rendition, got this too. Better? Don't know, but great and very underrated artist.
I bought this too, and loved both versions.

3) Same year 1967 the Walker Bros did it as well. It charted if I recall, but... a nah from me.

Other artists recorded it in later years. I'm sticking with the first 3 in the 60s and Lorraine still wins but Sharon is mightily close in my book.

Any views on Duran Duran’s rendition of Psycho Killer from their latest album, Danse Macabre?

https://youtu.be/REuoiWUZqXU?si=n1HnkSWLma2fdNvM

It’s competent enough, and might have stood the test of time had it have been the original, but it isn’t, and I’m not very clear why they bothered.

Summer breeze by Type O’Negative. Forgot how good this cover was, seguing beautifully in to ‘set me on fire’. Loved this as a spotty teen.

Not to everyone’s tastes maybe, but the band had a refreshing self-awareness about them. Peter Steele made for a great frontman and his death was a great loss to the darker side of music.

VERY good shout.

Spotify keeps playing me Green Man at the moment, not that I mind in the slightest.

I've just stumbled across Rick Astley & Blossoms doing a Smiths set at Glasto this Summer. As a fan of both of the latter and seeing the Smiths on their last tour at Brixton Academy I've got to say this is amazing. The YT comments say it all.

I do like a bit of Synthwave and stumbled across this cover whilst YouTube was on auto play and i must say, I’m liking it along with a few other covers of his.

Take away the video and compare just the sound, I can't agree that is better than the original.

I hope this counts, they play a drummer a drummers track of something they don't know, then get them to play along.
Dirk Verburen doing Mr Brightside.

Best bit of Glasto this year by a very large margin. I hope they tour it, I’d absolutely pay to see that. Apparently Mr Marr wasn’t happy about it, no idea why.

For me the late Nick Menza was the skin-basher for Megadeth, but seeing that Verburen is a close second

I always thought No Doubt's cover of the Talk Talk classic 'It's my Life' almost got there but did not eclipse the original (as nothing could). A very creditable version though - Gwen's voice gives it a different feel and the video is excellent.

What an odd comment, 82% of people in the UK are white.

Anyway, this is great, her voice is pretty special.
