2 very different things, depending on mood....

To wake you up;
Netsky live at Let It Roll - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfijEEhLzJQ&

To put you down;
Phelian - Lost https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuIwUTO0H7M

Vulfpeck, and Fearless Flyers.

Two funk bands made up of some of the same musicians (with various guests). Very very talented.

I started a thread earlier with a few of their songs on youtube.

Nightwish - Endless Forms Most Beautiful

Never listened to them before today, was listening to Slipknot earlier and did a bit of googling, ended up reading a top 30 metal singers run-down on Loudwire and came across Nightwish. Pretty impressed so far.

Nightwish are a great twist on the metal theme.

The other metal+ band I discovered recently are Babymetal - a properly bonkers mix of thrash metal and Kawaii schoolgirls. Well worth checking out.

Floor Jansen is an amazing singer but that album isn't a patch on their earlier stuff imo.

They performed at Wacken in 2013 and released it as a live album, check that out. She's amazing.

Personal preference was for Tarja. Here is an interesting comparison of their singing - Wish I Had An Angel.... Tarja is more operatic and IMO has much bigger range. Floor is more powerful, but not as interesting to listen to.

Another band worth checking out - Within Temptation. Tarja has sung with them, and their own singer (Sharon) is great as well.

If we're on about fantastic female vocals, this is one of Florence's best vocal performances IMO.

Two new records arrived today.

First was Gota Fria by Beth Rowley. Her second album - was surprised that it has been 10 years since her debut came out.

Second was my signed copy of the new Suede album The Blue Hour.

It's nice to be getting new albums on vinyl - feels like more of an event than a cd or download. Probably just nostalgia for my teenage years spent browsing around record shops and getting home with shrink-wrapped LPs.

Saw these guys live twice this year (supporting The Last Internationale and Thunderpussy) and they’re bloody brilliant.

Give ‘em a listen!
