My middle Bruv was the only punk in Broadstairs (great name for a band), when ‘Are we not men’ came out I remember him saying “kinnel the yanks are doing punk better than us”
This album would be in my top 10,desert island disc etc.
But after that came dub - the Clash already realised this with Sandinista

There is, indeed, a touch of genius here - that was the sort of punk to get excited about !

La Roux's 2nd album Trouble in paradise

Such a massively underrated album that almost went unnoticed to the majority, mainly due to her record label at the time letting her down massively on release. IMO the whole album is awesome but Uptight Downtown, Tropical Chancer and Let me Down Gently (that one builds slowly) are stand out tracks.

If you like your synthy 80's stuff this is one to listen to!

Coverdale Page. A combo of Led Snake or White Zeppelin join to produce good old fashioned heavy metal wih great riffs.

Feeling sombre tonight as the Spuds scored in the last 10 seconds and the big grey cloud of work tomorrow is looming up. Here goes

Excellent choice. From a similar era I've been rediscovering the genius of Pete Wylie and in particular this Spector-esque gem.
