Lots of Ash
(nah, not that Northern Irish lot that nicked the name, the real Ash, WISHBONE ASH
I mean the original band and line up changes before the rows and splits, ie pre 1990).
Was just listening to "Persephone" off Live Dates II - excellent line up and sublime bouncing of lead lines between Andy and Laurie..... and an exquisite bass line (Rickenbacker, IIRC) to boot..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilFFzuHhmsg(nah, not that Northern Irish lot that nicked the name, the real Ash, WISHBONE ASH

Warren Zevon - Accidentally Like a Martyr

Wishbone Ash stuff off now.
All Peter Green (RIP) and Fleetwood Mac now for a week - or prob longer!
Soo many great memories. Too many to list. This is before he left the band with his problems.
They did so much great stuff, but when I think of them live it was the stuff like 'Jenny Jenny' - how I really remember them - like just one night at Swindon Locarno in the late 60s when they did the song, those guitars and driving drum beat of Mick, the build up was just out of this world, you could feel the bloody floorboards moving under your feet it was so loud!

And the mad stuff, like 'Somebody gonna get their head kicked in tonite' - Jeremy had been tilting his piano on stage and it nearly toppled (it was credited at the time to 'Earl Vince & The Valiants' but really it was Fleetwood Mac (it was actually the 'b' side of Man of the World').
And way before the Rezillos did the same song about ten years later.

Bandit - Peter Green
(From the 1983 Kolors LP)
Peter's brother Mike helped and wrote a lot of the stuff then. Rumours say others played guitar on it but it has all Greenies hallmarks - nonetheless it's a superb instrumental piece as good as any spaghetti western music!

Fontaines DC get on my tits with their repeated lines. It seems every track lyrics must have 'repeat x 8' section. Maybe it's just a 'fk you statement', it would suit the band. Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
