Drum and Bass / Jungle - Mid 90's
Discussion
I was playing at Milwaukees every week until late 97 when it shut down.
After that I carried on playing the odd event here and there but only playing older tunes rather than current.
There were very few tunes I bought between 98-2000, mostly V, Full Cycle and anything that they released.
By 2000 I was starting to begrudge even buying them just to keep the labels complete as the tunes were getting worse and worse
By 2002 I had near enough stopped mixing and needed a break from it all, so I sat on my tunes for 2 years wondering if I should sell them or not and got offered £7500 cash for the lot... it took another 6 months to decide about that!
I eventually sold them and kept my favourite 100 or so tunes. A year later I had'nt touched them and sold them too.
Fast forward to 2011, I got another pair of 1200's and Serato and now feel I'm in the best position I have been!
I do sometimes regret selling them simply due to the rarity of some, and having the actual vinyl but having had them all originally brand new for £5 or less, I refuse to pay the stupid prices they go for now.
I do own a small and very select collection, picking up the odd rarity here and there
Things such as

Ive also set myself a challenge to get white label copies of all early Full Cycle, V, Dope Dragon releases!

Martyn - been lucky enough to find a snippet of a tune that I know well but have never known what it is. I know the tune well, as will you. It is rare but knowing the game, I guarantee this is an instant answer for you.
24:30 into this mix should do it. When it rewinds. I remember loving this as a teenager, on my pushbike. I heard it a few times, at the time, through Pirate radio.
I predict 1) Instant recognition and 2) A willingness to hear the tune through.
What a stomper, I have fond memories - this for me was the early days.
Feel Good? lol - boom!

Here's a question for you... Hungry Tiger....

Not exactly in keeping with the stuff thats been posted, but heard Kemet Records Love For World on the radio today and it sent a chill up my spine, in a good way
Just when you think you have heard it all.
A brand spanker - from back in the day, Martin this MUST be something you don't know. Its a 6 star tune - just breathtaking and right up your street. Amen drop comes but listen from the start.
I'm shivering.

Back in the day me and a bunch of mates organised some of the first intelligent D&B nights in Bournemouth - god that makes me sound old... :-(
However, I decided on a career in IT rather than being a wannabe DJ but my mates stuck at it and morphed a couple of years later into these guys..

I kinda miss the old days with Brett, Ollie and Dave but it was fun while it lasted.
Enjoy.

True rarity and a tune I bet money most have not heard. Amazing technical amen / dreamy track. Owned this on vinyl back in 97 - seriously breathtaking tune...

Came into D&B quite late in the 90's, and use to go raving in London now and then. We would often venture out the Sanctuary in Bletchley too for Slammin Vinyl events.
I have very fond memories of United Dance raves at Bagleys. The place was pretty grim but still had a great vibe. This is quite haunting to watch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc1V-hJovvk
Some awesome late 90's sets can be found here, all taken from radio 1's One In The Jungle show - http://oneinthejungle.co.uk/
