Public Service Broadcasting - Race for Space
Discussion
Not sure if anyone else is a fan of Public Service Broadcasting? Got into them last year after a recommendation on here I think. They've just released a new album titled "The Race for Space". Listened a couple of times now and love it, well worth taking a listen. Available on Spotify if you have that.

Big fan of this band, picking my vinyl copy up on Friday and can't wait. The reviews have been very positive so far which is good as I wondered whether they would be a one album wonder, evidently (and thankfully) not.
If you've not seen them they are a great live band, probably more so indoors than a festival as you can appreciate the projections they use a bit more. Looking forward to the tour.

You won't be disappointed, it's stunning - and sounds great on vinyl. If you've not seen them they are a great live band, probably more so indoors than a festival as you can appreciate the projections they use a bit more. Looking forward to the tour.

You're absolutely right I'm not disappointed, played it back to back a few times since picking it up. I'm really impressed and as much as I think IEE is excellent this second album has moved things on a lot, the concept and the flow of the album work fantastically. The acid test for me is my wife and children hate it which is generally a sign the album is a classic!Agree with the vinyl sound as well, was lucky to get a clear vinyl one from my local indie record shop.
I'd really recommend this album, definitely going to be in my top 3 of year even at this early stage.
I'm impressed. Some of the tracks are great in isolation "Go!" & "E.V.A" in particular but the whole thing worked so much better when I listened to it through, start to finish. The album tells a story & I really enjoyed it...twice infact as my car journey was an hour 'n' half. It's a great album but on first listen "The War Room ep" blew my socks off & this one didn't, I think it is because I'm familiar with the PSB concept now . For my money it was £7.99 very well spent & a solid 9/10.
Downloaded at the weekend. Great stuff and a worthy follow on to The War Room. Must try to catch them live before too long.
The title track of Race for Space is so atmospheric and eerie. Captures the mystery yet optimism of 60s space exploration perfectly.

Agree with all the above. Great band and good fun live, I've seen them a couple of times.
I think Race for Space is an outstanding album and probably my favourite album of the last 2 years ( not sure what the album was 2 years....)Just never get sick of listening to it, outstanding tracks for me are Go, and the dark side which makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

Digging up an old thread, apologies, but thought I'd post this little gem. New track from PSB to accompany their Sputnik EP. I love it!

Massive fan here - only caught onto them earlier this year and saw their set at Glastonbury, which ended up being one of the highlights of the whole festival for me. I love how they manage to create music which so accurately captures the mood and theme of the event each song portrays. Got tickets to see them at Rock City in Nottingham next month, so bloody excited for that!
Typically late to the party as always, I caught them for the first time at the Manic Street Preachers gig on Friday night at Wembley Arena as support.
Utterly superb even with a really short 40 minute set. Played "People Let's Dance" from the new album "Bright Magic", a couple from the "Every Valley" album including a personal favourite in "Progress" and a couple of others too. Finished the set off with "Go" which went down very well indeed.
Will be buying up their back catalogue for sure, really growing on me very quickly.
