the Rolling Stones--just a rip off band ( of all the great old blues singers/songs)who got lucky
with the exception of a handful of songs I'm with you Not sure it was all luck though. Mick Jagger has star quality, and would have made any band he fronted a success

Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I just find them so unbelievably boring. Years ago, I actually fell asleep when they were playing at Reading Festival. Although that may not have been their fault entirely.
They occasionally do an OK track - but I find most of there stuff to be filler. e.g. By The Way (song) was great, the other 15 tracks on the album were instantly forgettable.

Saw them at Murrayfield about 10 years ago. I don't think they played anything that was released before Califorication. Disappointing.e.g. By The Way (song) was great, the other 15 tracks on the album were instantly forgettable.
A band I don't understand -Tool.

Have you non-RHCP fans listened to Blood Sugar Sex Magik? One of my favourite all time albums. I agree about the comeback material.
Used to love Blood Sugar Sex Magik and bought a lot of their albums since only to be massively disappointed... Mother's Milk (the album prior to Blood Sugar Sex Magik) had about 1 decent track, just like every album since...

I'm the same, and I love Tool. I don't think they belong in this thread though, highly rated but it's easy to see why people wouldn't 'get' them.Mother's Milk (the album prior to Blood Sugar Sex Magik) had about 1 decent track, just like every album since...

Yup, Let's Spend The Night Together and Time Is On My Side are good, but the rest of their output is a waste of time.

In fairness I think the list is a bit longer, but I get the overall sentiment. And this is from someone who likes the Rolling Stones, but mostly their earlier stuff. Definitely don't get all the hype about some of the albums like Exile on Main St.Not sure it was all luck though. Mick Jagger has star quality, and would have made any band he fronted a success
Well, most 'RnB' - which definitely isn't rhythm and blues - just does nothing for me.
Kanye West - seriously, WTF? How does this guy sell anything.
But perhaps the worst thing I've heard in the last few years: 'Diamonds' by Rihanna. How did this win awards? Its lyrical content is only slightly more advanced than 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', it has no real melody, and sounds like it was sung by someone with no emotion or feeling. Yet award judges thought it was brilliant. I certainly don't get this one!

Sam Smith is a good shout, I just don't get the hype surrounding him.
To me his voice sounds whiny and like he can't pronounce the words properly.
My wife tells me I'm wrong.
He's on Graham Norton right now. Notwithstanding my earlier comment about him sounding like he has a snooker ball in his mouth, I've evolved my view to that of thinking he went to the dentist for a filling and has started singing without giving the anesthetic a chance to wear off.To me his voice sounds whiny and like he can't pronounce the words properly.
