Heaton Park Saturday night was amazing, Finsbury Park was good but a little of the magic had gone, we had a hotel the other side of the road to the entrance which was good, and cracking night 'post gig' in some local (dives) bars.
I've got a Hotel room booked in Manchester for Saturday night, but no tickets as yet, there seems to be a few appearing on the second hand market though, so fingers crossed, failing that we'll just turn up and see what's available 100m from the gate.

Same as me, Heaton park on the Saturday, then Finsbury Park! Friday night for etihad. Was lucky(?) to grab tickets for the Friday, but wouldn't have minded the Saturday. Might see if I can grab some Saturday tickets as well. Christ! As someone who has been into rock bands and other groups since the 60s has there ever been such hype about a group that has done little since their relatively short heyday?
Even Sky News have been spending every bulletin going on and on about it and the single.
If the fans are happy, that's fine. But bloody hell does it warrant this?

Can't believe how poor it is. Lazy lyrics are absolutely dreadful - is there a Disney remake of the Three Musketeers?
A YT comment that caught my eye was that it was reject to a Seahorses B-side. Sounds like its 20 years too late - what Roses would have made had they ditched Second Coming and suddenly jumped on the Britpop bandwagon.
Fallen into the trap of doing crowd pleasers.

As above, I watched them when they were supporting a good band, apart from a couple of songs they where really badEven Sky News have been spending every bulletin going on and on about it and the single.

Hype, it's all hype

Ian Brown would have all on holding a tune in a bucket, will I be stood in the Etihad next Saturday singing along to every tune....of course.
Somehow it's about more than the quality of the music/singing, it's nostalgia, it's memories, it's about being 16 again and not 43
Same here. Roll on next Saturday.Somehow it's about more than the quality of the music/singing, it's nostalgia, it's memories, it's about being 16 again and not 43
He's never been able to sing. In fact, at Finsbury Park, I didn't hear him sing a single line all night. I did, however, sing my heart out with everyone else all night.
I'll be trying my best to get down to the front again.
ETA: it is bang on about the memories, the nostalgia, being 16 not 42 (in my case this coming Monday), the fact that even after so long, that debut album still kicks most modern stuff into the weeds. It's about being able to do the things now that litigation and the band split robbed us of in the 90s.

Was there on Wednesday. Public Enemy were a great support. Musically the Roses are fantastic. Squire, Reni and Mani are superb craftsman and as tight as tight can be. Elements of Led Zep in their musicianship. Reni has been described as the best drummer in the world by afficianados of the art. He's added a bass drum which fills things out even more. I was at Spike Island in 90 being a Widnes boy. So to wait 26 years to see them again was bizarre. Ian Brown is Ian Brown. Vocally challenged but a great front man nevertheless. Some of his studio stuff is very good. Have a listen to Time is my Everthing, beautiful song. My question would be if you wrote songs of quality would you let somebody else sing them?
To those going tomorrow have a great time but park a distance away as the police close the roads from the main car parks to let people on foot get away. We parked 15 minute walk away and were back home 100 miles away before my brother who lives 30!

Well the Wife & I went Sat night. Was it as good as I'd hoped bearing in mind I've waited to see them for 20 years? Oh yes!
Agree with most of the above comments. They are a great GREAT 3 piece unit with a frontman for show.
They banged out all - so not that many then - of their greatest hits with the crowd trying their best to drown out Brown.
In my humble opinion if Moon the Loon were alive & well, he would watch that performance & make a mental note with a good nod of the head that Reni had put in a good shift.
He is a drummer of very rare ability & the musical highlight for me.
Lowlights?
No encore?
Getting the tram after leaving was not an option due to the sheer numbers. It was a total mess trying to find an exit. Oh & the bars at the Etihad shut wayyy too early.
Highlight! Getting squeezed on the tram on the way there so much, that I was basically dry humping some little young hottie 25 years my junior whilst the Wife watched.
I had to tell her that it was my phone she could feel...
Thing was my phone was in my back pocket...

Cracking night Saturday, I think Dave's Off-licence has paid his mortgage off.
The queues to get in were bit slow, but I've seen Public Enemy a few times anyway, and the set looked/sounded the same as the Prodigy support act set.
Don't know if it was the difference between Heaton Park and Finsbury Park not having any seating but the crowd in 'standing' seemed like a load of kids, I was wearing a jacket older than most of them!
Best sound of the 3 gigs and generally a good atmosphere, the walk back to town wasn't as bad as the Heaton Park nightmare, although we did find the worst greasy pizza/kebab shop in Manchester, overall a really good night.

Was there on Friday. Buzzcocks were poor I thought, which was a shame as I was looking forward to them. Enjoyed the Coral, got everyone warmed up nicely. Public enemy, well, I just don't get them and safe to say didn't enjoy them one bit. The main act. Awesome. Place was jumping, fantastic atmosphere, thoroughly enjoyed it.
