Christmas isn't far away but it always makes me mourn the passing of Woolworths .
What an amazing sweet selection it carried at this time of year.
Mind you it might've hastened its demise as this was the only time of year I'd actually buy anything.
What other shops, brands or businesses have dissapeared that you miss?

Edited to add....not dearly departed because I never went there but I did like their catchy jingle above, although I used to replace the second line with 'You fall through the floor'.

When I was a kid there was a shop called Homeworld near us, it sold everything from soft furnishings to TV's etc.
My grandad used to take us near Christmas as he'd be looking for something nice for my Grandma. I remember hours of fun in that place, watching all the amazing TV's hooked up to VCR's. I think of it this time of year as it's long gone (now a Tesco Extra) as is my grandad (long gone, not a tesco extra

Good times!Beatties, used to love visiting their Blackpool store when I was a kid, dreaming that one day I'd be able to get a Midnight Pumpkin remote control car, I did eventually get a Grasshopper 2 though followed by a Subaru Mudblaster. Still yearn for that Midnight Pumpkin... Sad to hear Beatties is no more, I imagine the market place for model stores has shrunk to the point where it's not worth having a physical store.

Ahhh, Snide and Shark. Bought my first bike from them. Gus Kuhn in Stockwell, the breakers in Ladbroke Grove (can't remember the name), any old fashioned car breakers yard, Motorcycle City in Feltham, Hein Gericke.Perik Omo said:

In the same vein, Allders of Croydon. They had great Christmas windows, sadly they closed in 2013, but I'd left Croydon way before then!There was also a Beatties just round the corner.
