Country music may get knocked in the UK, but it's huge in America. I'm off to Country2Country next weekend at the O2 and can't wait!

Anyone else going, or should I run for cover? If you are interested, they're running pop up stages all weekend and I think there's quite a bit of free music to see there. Full line up here: http://www.c2c-countrytocountry.com/event-info/pop...

I'm aiming to see David Nail on Saturday on the Radio 2 stage (O2 Indigo) and Maren Morris on Sunday in their mock up of the famous Nashville Bluebird Cafe.

It's not my sort of thing but to be honest, I love live music so if you're into it then why not. I went to this http://www.sagegateshead.com/whats-on-live-music-g... in 2014 and had a great time. Friends of mine were playing although I think their music is classed as folk rather than country. They seem to be doing OK. Very popular in Wales where they are from and getting played on Radio 2 a fair bit now.

Looks good thanks, will do a bit more research into that one. Don't mind a bit of folk either and like you, just love going to watch live music. I saw Ludovico Einaudi play at Blenheim Palace last summer, incredible setting.

I hate the st 'stand by your man' cack, but some of it is great, mainly the intense guitarists like Danny Gatton.

There's country. And there's Americana.

Can't stand the first. Can't stop listening to the second.

I'm a big fan of up tempo poppy country songs, currently can't get Josh Thompson - blame it on Waylon out of my head. Dierks Bentley is another particular favourite.

Also a huge fan of bluegrass stuff like Dan tyminski / union station.

I do find myself listening to Bob Harris's Country show on Radio 2 more and more often. I have no idea who most of the artists are, but it's generally a good listen and Bob's enthusiasm for the music comes across in way that so many DJs these days fail to do.

Dierks Bentley is coming to the UK next month on tour, I've got my tickets for London for the Apollo on the 22nd April smile

Will check out Josh Thompson. Dustin Lynch, David Nail, Maren Morris, Chris Stapleton, Eli Young Band and Rascal Flatts are all up there for me. Seeing a few of those at Country2Country next week too!

Will look into this Americana thing, never heard of it before.

You may have heard my friend Lowri Evans on his show the other day (he plays her a fair bit) and her new album has just been released. She's got an amazing voice.

I love to play 'country' music (mostly bluegrass) while driving my old pickup along country lanes with the window rolled down. It somehow doesn't seem the same in any of my other cars or at home.

I wouldn't class myself as a country listener but I listen regularly to Seasick Steve and the Zac Brown Band who could be classified that way

Neil Young count?

Recently discovered I really love Cadillac Sky. And then discovered they'd disbanded.
