Off to see The Blockheads locally on 1st April.
Anyone seen them? They look pretty decent on YouTube with Derek Hussey fronting them pretty effectively.

Seen them many times in recent years - still a brilliant live band.Anyone seen them? They look pretty decent on YouTube with Derek Hussey fronting them pretty effectively.

I'd be surprised if you can take your eyes off Norman Watt-Roy on bass!
I reckon there were only about 200 people there, but they put on an excellent performance.
Musically they were excellent and Hussey does a good job as front man.
Recommended!

updated list so far with another couple added.
Jan - The White Buffalo, Shepherds Bush Empire - Excellent country, blues, rock
Jan - Soul II Soul, Northampton - they were moderate but a great night with about 10 mates
Feb - St Paul & the broken bones, Bristol Colston Hall - these guys are great. look like a bunch of misfits off Glee but great performers.
Feb - Hannah Wants, Brixton Fridge - DJ set, felt ancient!
Feb - Tycho, Electric Brixton (Fridge if you are my age) - interesting electronic instrumental stuff
Mar - Underwold, Ally Pally - brilliant middle aged rave!
MAR - The XX, Brixton - very good
Mar - Emili Sande - Birmingham 02 (last minute twickets purchase as girlfriend likes her, pretty good & decent small venue)
Mar - Sampha, Bristol 02, - really good singer songwriter
Mar - Jamiraquoi, Roundhouse - 2 hours + of non-stop dancing & great show
April - Weller, Bristol - still full of enthusiasm and good performance
April - Jorga Smith, Brighton - absolutely brilliant. 19 years old Brit girl who has it all. Will be huge very soon.
April - Jorja Smith, village underground EC2A. Yep, 2 nights running. Brighton as girlfriends works there, London with mates.
Apr - Ragnbone Man, shepherds bush
Apt - Maverick Sabre, Dublin. (then Punchestown for the racing the day after)
Apr - Ed Sheeran, Birmingham
May - Michael Kuwanuka, Bristol
May - Leftfield, Brixton Academy
May - Simple Minds (acoustic tour), Bristol
June- Kraftwerk, Oxford
June - Vintage Trouble, Sh Bush Empire
June -Stone Roses, Wembley
June - Bryan Ferry, Hampton Court
July - love supreme festival, Glynde
July - North Sea Jazz Festival
July - Latitude
August - Ibiza Classics, Bowood House, Wiltshire
August - Defected Records dance festival, Croatia
Looking at a festival in Portugal with Depeche Mode & Foo fighters headlining, also a day or 2 at Reading & wildlife festival at Brighton.
Not bad for starters, one upside to getting divorced; no moaning about 'school night' gigs, or complaints that they 'are your thing'

Feeder last night in Oxford...
Bloody great. Very tight and played a good mix of the catalog, including all the crowd pleasers.
Everyon on stage wearing a smile which I like to see.
Bloody loud, and they come across far more rocky than maybe the albums do.
Would see again for sure.
I haven't seen Feeder since 2005, they were a band of my yoof and a big favourite of mine, so that has to change!Bloody great. Very tight and played a good mix of the catalog, including all the crowd pleasers.

Frank Carter & the rattlesnakes, tonight in London somewhere. Saw Gallows and they were fantastic. Haven't heard a note of this band's stuff so bit of a gamble.
I never particularly liked Gallows, but The Rattlesnakes first album is awesome - watched at download this year and Carter is a great front man, it was epic, hilarious and emotional all within like 40 minutes. Hope you had a good time.So far this year I've seen GBH & Drongos for Europe (highly recommend Drongos if punk is your thing). I have Kiss in Manchester, Prophets of Rage (parts of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill) in Berlin, Alice Cooper in Manchester and hopefully Too Many Zooz in Manchester. Possibly Peter and the Test Tube Babies and Discharge to come.
Saw Ruby Turner last night was invited by in laws but wow it was awesome. She was fantastic and the band was so tight. Next big one for me is Snarky Puppy in June in Manchester. Cant wait as a massive fan.
Then its soul II soul in July I think & then its the 80`s revival weekend in Macclesfield with bands like Level 42 who I bloody love

Cigarettes After Sex last night at Koko... Really great, though I'll admit to liking the support band more! Tender were their support, and I really enjoyed them. I'll definitely be seeking them out in the future.
Remaining for this year... Hoping to add a few more; particularly want to go and see Bear's Den again.
May - Seafret @ Thekla, Bristol
Jun - System of a Down @ Download Festival, Donington Park
Aug - Stereophonics / Feeder @ Victorious Festival, Portsmouth
Oct - Amber Run @ o2 Academy, Oxford
Nov - The Smyths @ Komedia, Bath

Just bought a ticket for Black Peaks tonight (well technically it's for Bury Tomorrow, but meh.). Apparently they are playing new stuff... I need to hear it.
edit
I'm back. Left after Crossfaith finished.
Any Given Day were OK
Black Peaks were awesome as always - the new songs are fantastic, particularly the second one.
Crossfaith seemed fun. The kids were into it anyway.

I am looking forward to seeing them, as a surprise addition to the Victorious Festival line-up! Given your comments, it sounds like it should be really good!
They were given a headline slot at Download Festival, the other two headline acts were Black Sabbath and System of a Down, perhaps, given the company, they didn't deserve it, but their set belied that - they obviously had something to prove, it was a great sing a long from start to finish, they even had a young lass parading around the stage with a Welsh flag (eew ) - jokes aside, it was a superb set, against the odds at a festival that usually wouldn't be all that accepting of them and in a big slot to boot.It was fuggin' freezing that weekend - and wet on occasion too, totally pants!
