John Legend (Last night in Birmingham, was incredible)
I went to that one with my wife and daughters; he's quite the showman, very slick, and one pretty stunning backing singer. Not my usual cup of tea but enjoyable and the girls all loved it.More to my ear was the support, Jack Savoretti, who was terrific and it was a shame he only got half an hour.
Tomorrow, The Australian Pink Floyd in Birmingham.

Prodigy tickets went on sale at 10 am with Ticketmaster and Seetickets.. By 2pm (maybe earlier) they had all sold out. Surprise surprise Viagogo (owned by Ticketmaste) has 300.. standing tickets cheapest at £92. That's the most expensive ticket I've ever seen for the Mcr Apollo. Looks like a band I'll never see.
Those bots & touts piss me right off. Luckily got some for Brixton, should be good in a smaller venue. Also squeezed in Tom Grennan on Wednesday at KOKO, that guy can sing and put on a show. Expect him to be big next year when the album comes out and bigger tour to support. Appears to have strong label support as you don't often see a new act with 3 string & 3 brass backing as well as usual band.

With the first presale on the Wednesday Viagogo had tickets onsale within minutes of the presale going live, almost like they had bough the tickets before they went officially onsale for the presale Went to see Nick Cave last week in Nottingham. Amazing gig. Never before have I been to such an intimate gig at the Motorpoint Anormadome.
Taking our daughter to see Gogol Bordello at Rock City in December. It's a few days after her 14th birthday and we can't wait to take her to a proper venue to see a proper band. When she was small she would ask us to put the "angry gypsies" on in the car. She could'nt say "Gogol Bordello" at the time, so they have been the "angry gypsies" in our house ever since.
Only down side is that now she knows she can go to Rock City (as she's going to be over 14), she's eyeing up the Stormzy, etc gigs. Mum can take her to them.

Off to see Gary Numan on monday. My first gig in about 15 years, and I'm going on my own which will be a bit weird.
Well he was brilliant. The support act (Jayce Lewis) was a bit so-so... lots of drums and noise but not much in the way of tunes. Gary Numan did a great set. Lots of energy and the set included a load from his new album plus a good number of the hits - Metal, I Die You Die, Cars, Down in the Park, Are Friend Electric
Crowd was predictably middle aged, with lots of middle-aged guys in band T-shirts and dodgy ponytails. I didn't fit into either of those camps
Good venue too.
Good run of gigs coming up for me in the next month or so:
Public Service Broadcasting @ Rock City, Nottingham
London Grammar @ Rock City, Nottingham
Goldfrapp @ De Montford Hall, Leicester
Nothing But Thieves @ Rock City, Nottingham
Seen all of them before but should be good times, especially as none of them except London Grammar are on school nights

A quick review of the O2 in leeds sees WASP, The Darkness and Extreme in the next three months
I reckon I'll make 2/3 of those.
last gig was Maiden at the Leeds Arena - very disappointing. the show was brilliant the vocals were terrible could not hear Bruce hardly at all.
having said that looking forward to seeing him at his book signing.
rock on
