Anyone listening to Dave Berry who is now on Absolute in the mornings?

He's trying far too hard and is coming across badly. Too much forced and excessive laughing stands out badly.

He sounds a bit like Russell Brand - over excited Essex boy!

I haven't heard that much, but from the bits I've heard this week it has been a week long dragged out pre-recorded Liam Gallagher interview.

I'm going to miss Christian O'Connell. They see!ed to genuinely enjoy the show and have a great laugh.

6 Music's output is hugely varied. I recently discovered Max Richter through them (and he is more "classical" than pop). Here's six tracks in the order they were played on Rad/Mac last week as an example:

The O’Jays, For The Love Of Money

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Spread Your Love

Spizzenergi, Where's Captain Kirk?

Thundercat, Show You The Way (feat. Michael McDonald & Kenny Loggins)

Slug, Cockeyed Rabbit Wrapped In Plastic

Run?D.M.C. & Aerosmith, Walk This Way

RX is just lazy indie/rock and I cannot listen to Moyles without wanting to reach down the radio and ram an old sock in his gob. Tawt (anag.)
Oh yes, Max Richter.....love ‘Spring’.

Changes afoot at 6 & none of them are particularly good I reckon.

Keaveney leaving the breakfast show which will be taken over by Lauren Laverne. Mary Ann Hobbs doing early mornings instead of Lauren & the biggest & sttiest shakeup is that RadMac are leaving afternoons for a weekend slot. Keaveney & Matt Everitt taking over this show.

Not impressed, Keaveney in the commute works for me & RadMac are the best thing on 6. Mary Ann is beyond pretentious & gets on my nerves.

Putting RadMac on at 7am at the weekend is akin to telling them to fk off.

I think they are great at what they do and I hope they get an offer on commercial radio somewhere as I would definitely tune in if they did.

MA Hobbs is ok for a late night slot I suppose (not my cup of tea) but she'll have about 500 listeners after a couple of months trying to do a daytime show.

Disappointed that RadMac are moving to weekends as I listen to them and Steve Lamacq whilst working from home several days a week, but they are both radio veterans who are, let’s face it, getting on a bit (not that this affects their output).

Maybe they just want to do other stuff? I doubt either will be short of offers.

Keavney has been on mornings for 11 years, as much as he's fantastic for the morning commute maybe he/the station just wanted a change?

With all the shows available online and podcast its not as much of a big deal as it used to be.

I have similar opinions to those on here which makes me wonder if the people making these decisions ever listen to the shows?

SK (presumably at his request) moving away from breakfast is fair enough and LL taking over is a reasonable replacement, but who the hell thinks that Mary Anne Hobbs is suitable for a 5-days-a-week mid-morning show? Surely she's best suited to some late night slot? Worst of all - shifting RadMac to the weekend from 7am! Madness.

Steve Lamacq's show is the 'tired' one of the daytime line-up. SK could have taken that, leave RadMac alone and give someone new (anyone but MAH! Tom Ravenscroft perhaps?) the mid-morning slot. SL moving to a weekend show would make more sense that RadMac.

I think that the work load for Rad 'n' Mac is getting a little onerous? Aside from the five afternoon slots they also present Rad - Radio 2 Folk and Mac Radio 6 Freakzone aside from various other occasional TV work (Glasto etc.). Radcliffe also produces the Count Arthur Strong radio show (not sure if he has anything to do with the TV version?) Frequently it is one or t' other due to commitments elsewhere. Maconie has some TV stuff and some Radio 4 stuff too. Good people are busy people.

Tom Ravenscroft would be dreadful mid morning (too much like his Dad) he's done it before and I don't think he "works", I actually think MA Hobbs will be fine mid morning and I enjoy Shaun Keaveny so I'm reasonably happy with the changes. Yes, I would happily ditch Steve Lamacq 'n' all.

Fair comment on Tom R - I'm not a particular fan of his, but I'd prefer almost anyone to MAH. I think SK will be fine in that afternoon, I'd just prefer it not to be at the expense of Rad/Mac, who as you say are busy and present together less and less it seems, however, they do seem mightily pee'd off at the changes, so it doesn't appear that they've asked for a reduced schedule.

I think Radio X has signed some agreement with the Gallagher brothers to promote them as much as possible.
It's now worse than ever. Liam is playing the Radio X birthday bash and is getting plugged all the time.

Virgin and Absolute for the next while.

I listen to Moyles some mornings, and love Johnny Vaughan in the afternoon but their playlist is still too narrow. I put Absolute on in between for more variety.

As long as you skip Chris Moyles, Radio X is the best station out there. Love JV in the afternoons. Good Indie/rock music without the Rhianna, Snoopy snoopy dog dog or Tinchy Tempah and co. What's not to like?

So is Absolute, but with a bigger catalogue of indie/rock.

Agree with this, didn't think I'd like Johnny Vaughan but he's a good laugh. The playlist is about 10 songs though, and 5 of them are that fking Gerry Cinnamon song on repeat
