The effect that a Floyd Rose has will be due to the tailpiece, a heavy and rigid anchor for the strings. Other types of tremolo are have parts that the string touches but which are able to move very slightly, they may well be lighter too.

well, having now played my new JEM77-FP2, it is by far one of the nicest guitars I've ever owned; thats from both setup / playability POV, and the tone.
A dead plank it aint !

Its the first guitar that I've ever bought that was 100% spot on from factory; intonation perfect, trem setup perfect, string height perfect - and the finish is gorgeous.
Well worth the £
