A cracking bit of work that. Should fill the OP's requirement. I like Rumours , but I think Seal would be my next choice to Out of the Blue.
Good shout with OOTB, ELO seem more popular than ever lately.I see 3 or 4 friends on facebook went at the weekend. Were they playing sunday night as well?
So many to choose from, but I think in terms of keeping people happy, probably...

You've got some friends round who have varying musical taste, you put an album on that works for everyone that means it won't be Aja, Dark Side Of The Moon or Court And Spark so it has to be Rumours, brilliant album, brilliantly recorded and caters for everyone.
Rumours imho the greatest album ever made, the staple diet of every classic gold radio station but still it fails to not impress even after all these years.
Umm no.Rumours imho the greatest album ever made, the staple diet of every classic gold radio station but still it fails to not impress even after all these years.
Not saying it's bad, but if you prefer the Peter Green days, then this will likely be a let down. And let downs can never be the 'Greatest'.
To pick one album as best ever is not only impossible, it's unfair over such a long time. I love Lindsay Buckingham guitar playing as I did Green's (and Kirwan, don't forget him). The best and worst parts of the guitarists I like (whoever) is the ones who still play (ie still living!) against those who sadly are gone or no longer play. There are just so many. As for albums, again so many. Argus by Wishbone Ash was a standout. Brilliant! Best ever? No idea. I was nuts about the group when I first heard them as a support for Deep Purple. Phoenix had me hooked.
To give an impression how an album can stand out, take Argus. My girlfriend at that time knew I wanted their new LP - she sort of liked the band but not overly so - and she got it for me. When I put it on she began singing, she knew every fking word, singing along. She (and her friend) had been playing it endlessly because they'd fallen in love with it!
Christ, there is so much from back then, much forgotten now. The vast array of groups I saw, but then there were so many and such an array. Valentyne Suite by Colesseum springs to mind. How can you pick one album? Which Pink Floyd? Christ! Division Bell, DSOTM...?
Fast forward to last Sunday. We watched Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in Hyde Park. So this week I've been playing all their stuff again. Mike Campbell was always underrated not just by me, but many. He's now my No. 1 guitarist. Timeless. I can put on 'Refugee' a hundred times in one day and still love it. In fact, to be honest I have it on 'repeat' in the car today!
Best of their albums? All the bloody lot simply because like Fleetwood Mac (whichever incarnation) they have something many wish for but never achieve, longevity. I'm so happy to have been able to follow so many for so long.
I'll end now. Best Album Ever? Too many to contemplate is the simple answer.
Always remember wise Eric Burdon's prophetic words in the Animal's song Monterey:
'You wanna find the truth in life? Don't pass music by.'

Maybe not the best album ever, but certainly one of the best debut albums ever.
IIRC, there's not one weak tune on it

In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.
Nicely done Whilst I am a fan of Huey and indeed Phil Collins, it is really Whitney who rocks my boat...

Yesterday I decided to select a few tracks to play from this album and being unable to pick a few favourites ended up playing them all except for Stairway To Heaven as this track bores me to tears, it is a shame that Stairway was included on this album as it definitely goes against the grain, nevertheless this album is pure genius and never ages, it has everything
