Pink Floyd - The wall
it has seen me through dark times and been the basis of amazing times too.

This for me

Surely it's London Calling by The Clash, which also happens to be the best album cover ever with The Clash being the best band ever.
To misquote John Lennon, "it's not even the best album by The Clash."

The first album and Give Em Enough Rope are both superior imho.
Sandinista for me,the variety and Mikey Dread's input.

Yesterday I decided to select a few tracks to play from this album and being unable to pick a few favourites ended up playing them all except for Stairway To Heaven as this track bores me to tears, it is a shame that Stairway was included on this album as it definitely goes against the grain, nevertheless this album is pure genius and never ages, it has everything
You've gone right down in my estimations. I quite liked you as a fan of The Tubes, but shocked that you actually like this dirge!
You're right that Stairway is crap, but it isn't out of place at all. It's all pretentious cobblers.
I love Aladdin Sane, but it is not as good as Led Zeppelin IV. Stairway is not the best track, but it is a victim of its success. I took against it for years because it had become a cliche, but reassessed it is a great track, with lyrics very much of its time.

I always thought "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" by the Smashing Pumpkins was amazing.

Many different styles, different singers, high quality arrangements and you can listen to it in one go and experience a flow which is second to none. It just works and to me, is a masterclass on how to do an album.

Tough choice. But I did see Grace Jones at a On Blackheath a couple of years ago and she was superb. Top band, great set, great voice, funny.

Recommended.

Costello has made some good records over the years but he's such an obnoxious tit, the insulting of Ray Charles in his early days should have been the finish of him. I was at the Linda McCartney tribute concert at the RAH back in the 90s, with every artist limited to 2 or 3 songs, Declan decides to sing a couple of obscure numbers whilst eveyone else did a Beatles song and one of their own well known songs, mind you he was lucky enough to hoodwink Diana Krall.
