Stevie Wonder, still sings his song in their original keys.
I was just about to type the exact same thing.

He sang the whole 'Songs in the Key of Life' album in Hyde Park last year.... all sang in the same keys as the original album..... incredible.

Couldn’t disagree more. Seen Metallica and ELO this year and for the first time since I can’t remember when have missed Level 42. All three, haven’t lost anything, including whatever “it” is. ????
Hetfield has clearly lost a lot of power in his voice.

Just listen to Nothing Else Matters or One - nowhere near as good vocally now.
Yeah? You reckon? Wow! wobble

This was them live only last week. Wanna have a rethink?! biggrin

I'd go the other way, saw them twice "back in the day" when they were excellent even Barney's vocals. Went to one of the Brixton gigs in 2012 (without Hooky) and they were dire, I swore never to go to another NO gig after that. Having seen Hooky a few times since that's the missing element for me now.
I went to one of the 2012 gigs, first time I'd seen them and enjoyed it, but they were far, far better in 2015, which is when the comments I mention were made.

There is a group of people who believe New Order can't be New Order without Peter Hook, but I'm not one of them (whilst I've enjoyed him live and would be happy to see the full lineup reformed - Can't see that happening soon though!) and I'd go and see them again for sure.

Did actually watch a version of NOTHING ELSE MATTERS - old vs 2017 when I was responding to the other poster - thoughts confirmed.

Fuel was epic at the 02, that vid just brought it all back so thanks. And thanks for reminding me that they indeed do still have it.

We saw Blondie and Garbage this summer... Both still have what it takes to get a crowd going.
What they both lacked in moves or high notes, they still had that special something which stirred the loins...

A 1 hour set from Garbage and 2 hours full on from DH, without any Diva attitude made a great night.

I saw Dean Friedman last year. He's still doing Ariel and hitting the high notes. Jackson Browne still hits the notes although it's clearly a little more difficult these days...still a sublime performer, though.

I read similar for The Stranglers - can't be the same without Hugh, except he's been gone for longer than he was in the band. They're still a cracking live act now, after changing their sound a bit during the "five-piece" line up they've come full circle. They keep talking about another album but don't seem to be rushing, but in the meantime the live shows are great. If I had to criticise one aspect it's that they don't seem to have confidence in the later material, so the majority is stuff from the original line-up.

I haven't seen Hugh play since he left the band, I guess I probably would if he was close enough, but my nearest gig venue is a train ride (except Saturdays, when the trains finish too early) and I can never quite summon the interest.

As a band, though, The Stranglers are definitely one for this thread IMO.

Did Dean Friedman do that clever track Well Well Said The Rocking Chair? Very underrated song.
See Jackson Browne at the RAH back in June, great show, It was 35 years to the day since I last saw him which was at Glastonbury in 1982.

This is a difficult one to perform live when the years are catching up a touch as the singing has to be very quick in places
Still got it though

I'll tell you who hasn't still got it - Ian Gillan. Saw the Deep Purple concert on the beeb last night. Rest of the band was excellent but Gillan should give it up.

Why do great singers carry on without the great?

Bruce Dickinson gets a thumbs up for me.

Can still blast out Run to the Hills as well as he first did in 1982!

Saw them a few months back and agree that, whilst missing some stage presence, the music, vocals and atmosphere are still spot on.

For me, neil young still has it, as do the stones and the who. Refuse to comment on bands from the 90s as that was only a couple of years ago in my head.

James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers, well the band in general really. I think they're one of only a handful of bands that get better and better the older they get. James can still hit the high notes when he needs to, can still scream the intro to Masses Against The Classes, and his guitar playing is faultless.

I'd vote for Billy Idol.

He is in amazing shape (I believe he is 61)

When you consider what he has gone through injury wise and that he must have done some serious st to still be performing, moving, singing is little short of a miracle.

I saw him at Hammersmith 2 years ago.

Loved every minute. good as ever.

By all accounts Midge Ure is on pretty sparkling form on his current tour. New album out on Dec 1st too.

Similarly, Marc Almond still seems to have "it".
