Went to see Nearly Dan at the Sage, Gateshead, on Saturday - I go every year and they never fail to impress.

Needless to say Walter was mentioned by Steve Hayes of the band, very poignant ("without him none of us would be here")

Played most of the AJA album, tracks from the rest of the back catalogue and New Frontier off the Nightfly (thanks to Donald).

RIP Walter, will miss the ascerbic lyrics
See them a couple of years ago, think they're from that neck of the woods, great Dan tribute band.

I went to see them a few years ago. After a few minutes I started wondering "what is the point ?" and left.

To be fair, it's not just Nearly Dan I don't understand as I don't see the point of any tribute band.

Nearly Dan are actually from Stoke and there was some amusing banter between the audience and front man given that Newcastle had beaten Stoke that afternoon in the Premiership.

I suppose the obvious points of a tribute band that spring to my mind are a) the original band no longer exists, b) the original band is not touring in your locality or c) you don't take it too seriously and just want a good, cheap, night out with your pals.
