Not going to well so far this year,

Had tickets to see FEEDER at Lincoln Engine shed but the organisers/university decided to cancel inspite of the band being on site and roads around Lincoln being clear and traffic moving as normal (tail end of the last beast) PATHETIC BSTRDS !

Then The STRANGLERS this Fri night but due to a slight mt bike accident last week and a broken hip I think i'll have to give that a miss as well frown

Next in line is BIG COUNTRY in May , Third time lucky ?

I was annoyed when I heard Flight of the Conchords had cancelled their gigs due to Bret breaking his hand, meaning I was missing out on seeing them on Thursday but your broken hip trumps that!

Paloma was pretty good last night, decent set and stage show.

Arena 85% full, so pretty well attended for a mid-week gig.

Support act was a bit of a miss, Xamvolo (no space - as he kept telling everyone!) despite being a local lad was a bit flat and didn’t really get the crowd going.

Paloma got a bit philosophical at times, really she should stick to singing, which is really what she is best at.... :-)

One thing that really irks me at gigs nowadays is phone use....if people aren’t filming, they’re faffing with their phone mid-gig, texting, tweeting etc.

Screens all lit up on max, are a big distraction, as are people taking photos with the flash activatvated....from the back of the arena!

You’re there, having paid to watch the act, get on and watch it and stop faffing on your phone! :-)

Nothing compared with the drunks who've just come out for the night, spend the whole time shouting at each other to be heard over the music and then shuttling back and forth to the bar spilling pints over everyone on the way back...

They really grind my gears! biggrin

Off and running.......

For those that haven’t been to The Tramshed it’s a bloody good venue! Even on a sell out it’s as easy to get to the bar and squeeze to the stage thumbup

They were really good. Surprisingly good in fact.

What's also surprising is how many of their tracks you find yourself knowing the words to.....at least, if you are 57 that is!

Supported by Therapy? who were a little, um, intense.

Went to see Steven Wilson last week in Warwick. I only discovered Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson's solo stuff a couple of months ago and it was one of the best gigs I've ever been to. The best live sound I've ever heard.

Wow! Didnt think these two bands would still be doing the rounds! I was knocking up an Indie Spotify playlist that reminds me of an Indie club I used to go to in the early 90's (Pink Panther in Bolton) and HOL's Shine On was on there... Hope you enjoy the gigs!

Well i'm glad you enjoyed them, strangely I am exactly 57 ! . Have seen them 2 or 3 times before, once at LeMans 24hr.
The old Rattus Norvegicus album stuff is awesome .
Found the crowd mature but still just a bit crazy biggrin .

Def not going to risk it, hip is improving incredibly quickly but a Stranglers gig on crutches just isn't going to end well . Less than 2 weeks post opp. plus Mrs Toy would divorce me.

I was pleased to hear that too, I'd heard some comments that the crowd at Southend were a bit quiet. I saw them in Liverpool a couple of weeks ago, and am going to the Manchester gig at the end of the month.

Funny you mention Le Mans, one of my favourite clips is from that gig. Terrible sound and video quality, but a lot of atmosphere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5adRzpIkZo
