That's one issue with living in Norwich - you can either see bands playing in Norwich or face the expense/days off of travelling a few hours to get anywhere!Alestorm at The Garage in Aberdeen - February
Stereophonic at the AECC in Aberdeen - February
Apocalyptica at the o2 ABC in Glasgow - March
Hellfest in Clisson, France - June
I have a ticket for Download but I likely won't be attending
Will be looking for Iron Maiden tickets for Glasgow and Manchester next week when they go on sale

Out of nowhere this morning came the news that my all time favourite band, the Manic Street Preachers, are doing an eight date UK tour in April / May of this year.
My 50th birthday on May 1st, would be great to see them that night but I'm in Bristol and they're in Llandudno. More likely to be Birmingham or Wembley as I'm at football on the day of the Cardiff gig.
Can't wait. Saw them as a four piece band in 1993 then again in 2004 and 2014 too. New album is out 6th April - "Resistance Is Futile".

Whole Lotta Led at Colchester in March.
Not your normal tribute band and simply fantastic live.
Must look out Limehouse Lizzy and see if they are about while I'm at it.
Edit: woo too, playing Dagenham tonight. Have to see if my jeans and white t shirt are clean!

After 35 years of watching live music, I finally succumbed to my first 'arena' gig in November 2017, seeing Royal Blood at Manchester Arena. They were fantastic, but... WTaF?... people sit down at rock concerts!
I won't be doing that again.
That does mean, of course, that you simply can't get to see some of the more popular bands, as promoters (and, probably, the bands themselves) simply want maximum bang for buck and will stick to huge venues if they can fill them.
What I've discovered though, is that those same bands are still playing smaller venues in Europe. And the ticket prices are often cheaper too (man maths excludes travel costs, natch ). As an example, the Human League has a UK tour in November 2018; average ticket price is £45. All big venues. I bought two tickets to see them in Utrecht, all standing venue, for €28 each.
Anyway... stuff booked for 2018 so far:
Girl Ray - Heaven, London - 18 April
A Certain Ratio - Garage, London - 21 April
Human League - Tivoli, Utrecht - 2 November

I was never a huge fan but like all their well known hits. My 17 year old daughter has really got into them over the last year and we got to see them do a one off gig at Bristol amphitheatre in June which turned out to be great night. She's bagged a couple of tickets for the Cardiff date in May so looking forward to that. Not interested in doing the whole weekend, so I'm waiting for day tickets to come out... Taking ages!
I think they will leave day tickets right to the last minuet, as its all looking a rather good line up for next year so far!(just needs stone sour to be confirmed!)
So they will hope to sell as many weekend tickets as possible first.

Jeez, you're on it already! That's amazing! I think I remember your post saying last time that you became single and that meant lots more time for gigs? I'm glad that's still going well for you!Feb - Jorja Smith - 02 Oxford

Some weeks have been a bit daft and ridiculously there are already date clashes in 2018 as I do a lot of comedy nights too. Ought to update finalise the 2017 list for an end tally.
Post split from ex the gigs have kept me sane, people that I take along have also benefitted as I get on the case early.
Just added Beach Boys at Hampton Court Palace. Wanted to see Brian Wilson on his own or just doing Pet Sounds but this will be a greatest hits singalong
