Gig Plans - 2018
Discussion
So far I have:
February
Despised Icon with Archspire
The Front Bottoms
Paradise Lost
March
Moose Blood
Obituary
Belle and Sebastian
Cannibal Corpse with The Black Dahlia Murder
Flight of the Conchords
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
April
EDEN
May
Machine Head
June
Download Festival
Belly
August
Iron Maiden
Bloodstock Festival
End of the Road Festival
I roughly have the same number of concerts booked for next year as I went to this year and I know that more gigs will turn up as the year progresses so I'm going to smash this year's total.

couple more added
Feb - Beth Orton - Roundhouse
Feb - Jorja Smith - 02 Oxford
Mar - Tom Misch - 02 Birmingham
Mar - Tom Grennan - Shepherds bush empire
Mar - Jessie Ware - 02 Birmingham
Mar - Rose Royce/Odyssey - Bristol Colston
Apr - Nathaniel Ratelife & The Night Sweats - 02 Shepherds Bush
Apr - White Buffalo - 02 Bristol
Apr - Mabel - 02 Forum (Neneh Cherry's daughter)
Apr - Plan B - 02 Birmingham
June - Southport Soul Weekender - Finsbury Park (not really a gig a such)
June - Lamont Dozier - St Georges Bristol
June - Beach Boys - Hampton Court Palace
July- North Sea Jazz festival - Rotterdam
Aug - Defected Dance festival - Croatia
living on the Berks/Wilts/Oxon borders I can hit Bristol, Birmingham & London pretty easily so choose the best location for which night suits. trying to do weekends and then Birmingham on a Sunday makes more sense that Brixton on a Tuesday.

Just one so far - Nils Frahm at Brighton Dome
Added The Cure to this today at Hyde Park for their 40th Anniversary in July, pretty good line up (Interpol, Editors, Goldfrapp, Twilight Sad, Ride and Slowdive) so despite the location it should be excellent. Hoping we may get Lol Tolhurst and a few of the old band members rolled out for this one, may be just wishful thinking though.Need to book Public Service Broadcasting tickets for April soon as well, last tour was best yet

I think i'll be attending that Cure/Interpol/Editors/Ride/Slowdive show. What an utterly ridiculous line up.
I thought the line up to be very strong to be honest and was struggling to think of any negatives at all, but hey we all have different tastes. Probably only downside is it'll only be a 2 hour Cure show rather than the usual 3 hours plus..........wal 45 said:

Ridiculous as in good - a line up that most festivals would split across multiple days on big stages available for ~£75, on a Saturday, in Hyde Park? Yes Please.FN2TypeR said:
Baffles me how Meshuggah are in small writing - probably the most innovative and important extreme metal/Djent/Tech Metal band aren't as big of a selling point as Carnivore A.D? Same with Converge.Edited by JLC25 on Wednesday 13th December 16:30

Converge not getting a bigger slot is a bit of a kicker, that new album - wowza, absolutely loving it
Was really hoping for Ghost and Nine Inch Nails, can't win them all. Still a good 40 bands that I like and that's without hitting Spotify to check out others, so I'm well set
Can't wait

Graspop looks tip top, too. Hellfest is nailed on though, everything was booked in advance - my brother and I are heading there, then to Amsterdam for a couple of days to wind down
I'll be looking at another mainland festival for 2019 and Graspop is a serious consideration, as are Mad Cool and NOS Alive - they have Pearljam this year, Mad Cool have Massive Attack and NIN too, I'm very jealous!
Head above the parapet time - I'm not that fussed for seeing GnR. I saw them twice in 2006 and once in 2012; they were great but the lineup being as it is now isn't that big a draw for me tbh, certainly no more so than the lineups that I have already seen

I was debating tacking either Hellfest or Graspop onto my trip to Le Mans next year but I'm already doing Download the week before (as I'd already promised my son to take him) and three weeks off from work would be a bit a stretch, may be the year after...I'll be looking at another mainland festival for 2019 and Graspop is a serious consideration, as are Mad Cool and NOS Alive - they have Pearljam this year, Mad Cool have Massive Attack and NIN too, I'm very jealous!

I'm not a massive GnR fan (that's my son) so I may have this wrong, but isn't post 2015 GnR the one with both Axl & Slash back in?
Mad Cool looks ok, but a bit poppy for my tastes. I'm still hoping NIN will do a decent small venue UK tour next year, no interest in seeing them in an arena.

Duff and Slash are back with the band, yep!
I haven't seen NIN in a small venue (arenas and festivals), those sets were fantastic but smaller venue, say the O2 Apollo in Manchester, that would be bloody brilliant
I suspect the best we might see in terms of a small show, would be a one-off London show similar to the Scala gig a few years back - no doubt I won't be as lucky as I was then..I haven't seen NIN in a small venue (arenas and festivals), those sets were fantastic but smaller venue, say the O2 Apollo in Manchester, that would be bloody brilliant
Shame really, as they are superb a small venue.

I've seen them every time they go to Brum and do a small venue right from their first UK Tour when they played at Goldwyn’s. I've managed to meet Trent a couple of times, back when they had their fanclub thing still going, they even did a sound check once for us, fking awesome.I haven't seen NIN in a small venue (arenas and festivals), those sets were fantastic but smaller venue, say the O2 Apollo in Manchester, that would be bloody brilliant

Decided to go to Incineration Festival next year, mostly as its way past time that I saw Taake and Master's Hammer:
