Just booked the Eagles for next June.

Can't wait. Last saw them at Twickenham about 15 years ago

My son's currently on his way to Preston from mid-sussex for that gig. I'd be with him but I had already bought tickets to see TRB doing Power in the Darkness in Brighton tonight. Will be catching up with The Wildhearts at Koko in December, and Ginger et al for the Birthday Bash at the Garage.

How did he find the Wildhearts, I saw ginger couldn't sing, then ended up not playing either!

A mate got tickets for The Damned next month at Shepherd's Bush Empire.

Haven't seen them in years, and the first time was 1981! eek

Blimey. The last time I saw them was at their tenth birthday party in Finsbury Park in 1986. Though the highlight of the weekend was probably Hawkwind!

Steeleye Span last night at the Buxton Opera House.

Excellent. Very good musicianship, incredible singing/harmonies. Without Tull Steeleye Span is the last true bastion of folk rock.

Ginger has been a bit poorly recently, hasn't he? I thought he'd cancelled upcoming gigs, but clearly not.
Did you enjoy MW? A friends son is guitarist and is just loving gigging right now.

Saw them supporting Motorhead a couple of years ago. I was surprised how strong the punk movement still is. But yes, they were good.

I always said that I wouldn't revisit my heroes. Being somewhat fanatical about 'new music', I managed it quite well until 2011, when I capitulated and went to see my #1 teen heroes the Sisters of Mercy at their 30th birthday party.

So. Much. Regret.
I may as well have gone to see a tribute band.

The only two bands from my youth I still go and see regularly are one who I never managed to see live back then (A Certain Ratio), so there's no live vibe to compare to, and another who didn't really appeal to me at all back then, but are now a truly immense live act (The Human League). Such a good night out - helped, I guess, by all the lyrics being indelibly imprinted in my memory.

James + The Charlatans - Wembley Arena on 7th December.
Not seen them live before, so looking forward to it.

Also going to a much smaller gig at The Monarch, Camden on Nov 13th.
Headline is The Soapgirls, but initial reason for going is to support Angerland as a friend is the bass player.
Angerland recently changed their name from F**kshovel in which guise they did release an album. smile

This on Saturday night with my missus and her mate who both lived round the corner from the Trojan pressing plant in the late '60s and early '70s and had all the old tunes.

Look forward to it and it's only a ten minute walk away. smile

Saw his show earlier in the year and it was one of the best gigs I've eve seen; visually brilliant. Not sure how it will translate to the 02 but you do have the benefit of the screens which I didn't at Oxford.

search for the running order as there is a bit of the new album as well as quite a few classics. If I wasn't going on holiday that day I'd be there too.

Jorja Smith - Birmingham 02 - the next Mrs Westberks!
Dermott Kennedy - Oxford 02 - he has a great voice
Tom Grennan - 02 Southampton
Maribu State - 02 Oxford

This week I have

Sinead Harnett - KOKO the next next Mrs Westberks if things don't work out with Jorja
and then
Raphael Saadique (ex Toni, Tony Tone lead singer) Indigo 02
Rudimental - Ally Pally

then onto November!

this week I've seen:

ash (@ the garage glasgow)- 5/10 maybe 6. was alright, their older stuff is way better, sounded good, nice small venue. decent crowd (slightly older maybe 30-40 average age). mrs loved them, thought it was brilliant, i thought it was just average.

Tom odell (@ the usher hall edinburgh)- 8/10 maybe even a 9. absolutely brilliant gig, great on the piano great vocals. I only knew about 4/5 of his songs, didnt really know what to expect. but absolutely loved the gig. and first time in the usher hall for a standing gig, great venue, its a theatre with removable seats for gigs, nice little slope/ incline meaning great views from all the standing area.
