1st Gig. Billy Graham. Pigs Ground. Sheffield. 1984/5. Parents had no taste.

1st own selected gig scoured out from the gig lists of NME.

Postal Order (remember them) sent off for with ticket application, nervous wait to see if I got tickets,

Oh crap got tickets, now to get public transport booked and sorted, what do you mean public transport doesn't run 24/7??????

Oh God, must get a different t-shirt to everyone else.

Oh no, Jonsey, Sparkey, Stocking Tops, Eddie Fish Breathing System and Ken Siddal haven't got tickets.

Neither has me bird.

Wait, I've got no bird anyway, mop flop topped shoegazing teen flare wearing saddo that I was............what to do....should I go........

yep...Stone Roses, Spike Island...still got the ticket......and apologies lads for building the Mersey Gateway across "your" field last year...

Queen, The Magic Tour - 1986, Mungersdorfer Stadion, Koln. Supported by Marillion (Misplaced Childhood in full cloud9), Gary Moore bow, Craaft, and Level 42 (who actually were pretty tight).

Queen probably ruined the gigs I went to for years, no one has bettered them IME, but some have come close.
I agree, I saw Queen in Newcastle as part of the same tour, they where phenomenal and nothing I have seen since has come close.

A-Ha was my brother's first gig. I took him to Harrogate Conference Centre, and a quick Google tells me it was in April 1991; he was 12. He's had a soft spot for them ever since and I went to another gig with him, at Wembley Arena, about 10 years ago, or so.

1987/88 - Terence Trent D'Arby - Introducing the Hardline Tour - Leeds Queens Hall - was 15/16 at the time - and almost didn't get to go as got mock exam results the same day and they weren't too good .....

If I remember he was about 2-3 hrs late coming on stage - and getting home was a nightmare.

His support act were Roachford - whom even though the sound was not set up for them - did a brilliant/extended show to cover up for TTD being late !!

Hawkwind - Bracknell Stadium 1972.

The following year I spoke to the stadium about promoting a disco and was read the riot act about noise and finishing at midnight. Everyone, I was told, finishes at midnight - except Hawkwind. They too had been instructed to end at midnight or they would be switched off. But they played, midnight came and went and they played on. The staff took a deep breath and switched them off. Nothing happened; they just carried on. The roadies had bypassed the heavy duty main and had plugged everything into 13amp sockets at the back of the stage. "It was all glowing red." Steps were taken to prevent it happening again.

There's a stadium in Bracknell? I've lived around east Berkshire most of my life and never seen one! Where's that?

That's what we called it at the time. It will be the Sports Centre or Leisure Centre now I expect. It was a big deal when it was built.

First one I'll admit to would be Ben Folds Five at the Royal Albert Hall, 14th December 1999.

In reality my first ever gig was Cliff Richard at Wembley Arena 30th November 1994. I was 9 and my Mum's a fan.

Mine was either The Jam at Bracknell sports centre, or Squeeze at The Fulcrum Slough, lateish 70s I guess

Crikey, Jam was 1977. Squeeze after. I must be getting ancient!

I remember like it was yesterday, coming home with a safety pin through my ear then. Mum burst into tears. Late Grandad shook his head. But wasn't real, just cut a bit out of it, but looked real. Happy days!

First gig was Ash playing 1977 in the Bristol Uni Anson Rooms. It was a fantastic gig and atmosphere. However I remember being mildly disappointed that they didn't have they didn't have the Tie Fighter sound at the start of Loose Control hehe
