Hi all

I'm after an estate that has a bit of poke for under 5k, I've been looking at older A4's, V50 D5's etc but not sure what's reliable and worth the money. I like the V50 but struggling to find an SE Sport available with a D5 engine that isn't a million miles away. Any recommendations? I don't mind if it's diesel or petrol really.

If it's a car you want then travel to get it.

An alternative is the C Class with the 5 cylinder 2.7 diesel engine in it has a good amount of BHP & torque (they also respond well to a map) you can get a nicely loaded one for your budget,

They're reliable go well & are very reliable.

That C270 seems a really good deal... It's 150 miles away but I'm tempted to give them a call.. I'm 28 so perhaps a bit before my time but I do like it..

I'll throw this one in, although the rear door looks off in colour

Ring them the engine is pretty much bulletproof the gearbox fluid should be changed every 40k if there are no receipts for this then budget £150-200 from a good indy, it's loaded with kit & won't do you wrong as for the image don't worry about it when your friends get in it they'll understand why you bought it.

Also you won't care once you've got it, or you could go for the 220 Sport I listed (but the 270 is the better car) to have a smarter look.

It's a better looking IMO car than the V50.

If using Mercedes oil budget around £250 if it has the drain plug on the torque converter they take anywhere between 5 and just under 9 litres and its £15 a litre, sump gasket and filter are cheap. Its around 1 hour to do by the time the fluid has drained and you have the gearbox up to temp.

That car doesn’t have ACC, just standard cruise. You can tell by the logo on the steering wheel switch.
