I know a few people in their 40s that still listen to Radio 1. I find that quite surprising tbh, as R1 is usually falling over itself to gain favour with teen audiences. Notbing wrong with that, but it's awful to my 40 something ears!

Radio 4 is a bit hit and miss, just depends what's on and how interesting it is to you.
Of course, but there are quite a few interesting programmes.

Like the BBC site, they can drone on about leftie issues a bit too,
What are "leftie issues"?

and then you have Woman's hour rubbish, the typical content of which is shown below domestic abuse, hairstyles...
As a man, I'm not a fan, and do wonder at how it continues to exist, but Woman's Hour really isn't typically quite how you describe it.

My radio listening is superbly covered by just three stations;

Radio 4 - Current Affairs, the arts, documentaries and comedy.
Radio 6 - Very appeals to my eclectic musical taste.
Rado 5L - For sports coverage.
