Why is everyone around you talking? Ruins a great gig... I'd expect it in a pub but not at a proper gig.

I’ve also been into this for sometime. Love watching the videos accompanying the music on You Tube. They have 80s movies in them and it takes me back to my brilliant childhood. I’m seeing a The Midnight in Bristol in November and can not wait.
I also like Le Cassette which if entirely honest I’m not sure it’s really Synth Wave but does have that 80s vibe to it. The Midnight video of Explorers has been on loop for ages

I saw The Midnight on Tuesday and they were excellent. Far more polished than their earlier live shows (on YouTube) appeared.

The new saxophonist is an absolute nutter.

I like Le Cassette too. Haven’t seen any new stuff so hoping more is to come, but he makes a good tune.

At the moment I don’t think if goes more 80s than The Midnight’s remix of “The Outfield” by The Night Game. Tune.

Love Synth Wave. Hadn't heard of it until Initial Talk's remix of Dua Lipa's "New Rules" found its way into the public consciousness and then started looking for more of the same kind of thing.

Some of this stuff is great, but what if you want to buy/download it, like this one: Purple Voyager - Elfl

Its all on Spotify. Purple Voyagers - EP by ELFL is certainly there, as is all the other artists that have been mentioned so far.

I'm loving Gunship (fantastic videos), Dance with the Dead (they did a London gig recently with LeBrock) and Scandroid at the moment. I guess I lean more towards the darker horror/cyberpunk side of the genre. Perturbator worth checking out - latest track has very strong 80s goth vibes.

Spotify has a 'high quality' option (although that's a slight misnomer) which is 320kbps - on pretty much any device it's absolutely fine and more than sufficient.

Edit: there's a test on this page - see if you can tell the bitrates apart.... https://www.theverge.com/2017/4/5/15168340/lossles...

£10 a month is an absolute bargain for what Spotify offers. I'd not blink if it doubled. It's a wonderful service.

been fun reading this thread and checking out the links

I should like this (I like a lot of 80s/90s synth bands including Kavinsky) but this is way too cheesy (sorry) for my taste, I keep thinking its background music for an 80s movie like Beverley Hills Cop. My tastes are a bit heavier.

Some of the videos are great though.

Yes off topic, but £10 a month is a bargain really. Ive got one account, loads of devices that the family use to download their own music (although annoying that all their play lists appear in my car even if Ive not downloaded the music), my kids have it hooked into their smart speakers. With CDs about a £10 a go its great value.

Although I do miss going to John Menzies, Our Price to get the latest albums something my kids wont experience. But, well £10 for for what you get is good. I understand Tidal offers better bit rates uncompressed but with the quality of the audio kit I have ill never notice. Sounds fine on the B&O kit in my car and on my HD580 and HD650 Sennheiser headphones.

I had Karl X Johan on in the car recently. I must have had tracks from this group on my playlists for a few years but just realised I think they’re also a very unknown but welcome addition to bands to look out for.

“Never Leave Me” is a wonderful track. They don’t seem too prolific but worth a listen.
