I will be putting some new discs and pads on the front of my Monaro VXR 2005 6 l.

As any one removed old discs from VXR are they just to be hammered off breaking the rust seal that will have formed on the shaft.
Reason for asking is there is no sign of retaining screws, as seen on some discs on other cars.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure with a Monaro but on a vxr8 when mine were changed they came off fairly easy.
They were not held on with any screws or bolts and a gentle tap with a rubber mallet and they came off.

No retaining screws on the Monaro either. May need some persuasion though.

No screws, maybe a hammer will be required. WD40 between the hub and disc helps. Brake line slots onto strut, you will need to twist it to get the flat bits lined up.

When you put the new ones on smear some copper grease around the hub that helps next time

Hi Ade,
I cleaned signs of corrosion and dirt from the mating surfaces of the hub and disc before I fitted my new discs, to make sure they ran true as possible. I was also advised to use a DTI to check the run out of the new discs in each position on the hub, then chose the position with the least run out. I was told that no more than 0.004 thou run out was required to prevent any steering vibration.

Just changed the discs on my Mustang. No issue with the undersigned discs, the hardest part was undoing the bolts on the disc brake carrier bracket. Don't forget your thread lock. I use thin smears of aluminium grease as it's silver.
