Queen have some, too. Get Down Make Love in particular has one of those middle sections (like whole lotta love) that could easily be removed to no detriment.
The whole of Bohemian Rapsody. 1 second is too long, hateful bloody thing.

The War On Drugs - Under The Pressure.

Absolutely love this track - the way it builds and kicks back in at about the 4 minute mark - but then it trails off at around 6 minutes and you get an excessive three further minutes of ambient noise!

And he went back to his Beatles albums and got some more.

I think he loved the sound of his own voice with that outro...

Any prog-rock piano solo.

Scrap that. Any prog-rock 'song' - 1 second is far too long.

I disagree, I have been listening to this daily for the last couple of weeks as my younger daughter has been dissecting it as part of her Music GCSE; the outro is guttural and full of frustrated anger, hence the repetition but Kurt’s tone becomes more desperate; prescient. Hindsight maybe, but still a fine song.

An interesting GCSE project. I'm sure he was angry, however I still think it went on for too long, and the producer (assuming it wasn't him) should have edited it down.

But hey ho, we all have differing opinions (not a bad thing!).

Layla
I was going to say Layla as soon as I saw this thread. I only listen to the vocals and then tend to skip the song when it turns to an instrumental

Sympathy For The Devil by the Rolling Stones, by Christ I hate that song. It's that stupid "whoo, whoo" that just goes on, and on, and on..........
Most overrated band ever, in my humble opinion.

The bit in the middle of starlights numero uno with the weird drums and groaning spoils the vibe of the good bits for me, must be why thats the only bits you hear when its dropped into a mix.

Pretty much the second half of every Guns n'Roses song. First half = awesome, second half = random crap.
The second half of Night Train is the best bit!

Also, this might be blasphemy but Stairway to Heaven, the first half of the song can fk right off. Just get to the solo and the angry bit please!
