Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa - I'd Rather go Blind.
I'd forgotten about Ms Hart of late but this track is quite brilliant, originally by Etta James, Beth owns it here:

yes

That's a bonus track on the CD I've got of OK, Ken

Whilst writing, here's some footage of a little-known duo that I've always enjoyed:-

Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee

A couple of other classics that may have not been mentioned before:-

Smokestack Lightning

Stormy Monday

I'm pretty sure Robert Johnson has been mentioned, but Clapton once said, 'I have never heard anything as soulful as Robert Johnson'. This is my favourite Johnson tune; every time I listen to it, all my hairs stand on end:-

Love In Vain

Rather have a female vocalist for that one. Govt Mule are very good but they generally don't do covers justice...except for maybe their live version of Soulshine. They did a cover of Jesus Just Left Chicago which was frankly dreadful. Their tendency towards long jam sessions live and lots of covers makes them a bit of a marmite band to see in concert IMO.

I don't really listen to them. I just find their version of that song stunning and a very inspired guitar which is the key ingredient to blues for my listening. smile

Your username just gave me a lightbulb moment. Whipped downstairs to make sure I still have the gatefold mid-70s double vinyl LP I'm thinking of. Sold so many over the years, I sometimes regret selling some... yep, it's still there, nice and mint still.
One of the most striking coversI'd ever seen at the time. And great gatefold pic of Stan.
Pics are not of mine, but just so you can see if you don't know of it. I might just give it a play tomorrow!

Try this , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFAYi3UzkUw

She has a rather special voice, and her bands' guitarist can play too. " Feeling Good .", Kaz Hawkins

Edit. Here's a little ditty she wrote herself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTShI4EskTA Pray to the blues

Please forgive me for putting this here. It's just that it's sort of shared ground.

Gary Moore - Voodoo Child (sic)

I reckon it's better than the SRV version - more aggressive, almost violent.

When I was just getting into "The Blues" back in the late 60's early 70's Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee were some of my favourites.
As I recall they weren't actually that friendly to one another but I may be wrong.

Joe Bonamassa

Bonamassa is a lot slicker, but I prefer the John Mayall version.

This earlier version's not bad either - Sonny Boy Williamson II - Help Me

There were 2 guys called Sonny Boy Williamson: SBW 1: 1914 - 1946, and SBW 2: 1912 - 1965

I started to get into blues music only recently as I started to learn the harmonica, so the following are more from the blues harp angle:

Sonny Boy Williamson 1 - Sugar Mama

George "Harmonica" Smith - Mississippi River Blues

Little Walter - Juke

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band - Everything Going To Be Alright

Charlie Musselwhite-Christo Redemptor

Just for something you definitely won't have seen, but it's worth a watch/listen, is a video I took at a summer harmonica camp evening session with Pierre Lacocque (Mississippi Heat), and Greg Miller (I was attending his classes at the time). It was shot on an iPhone so not perfect, but it's the playing that's important.

.... and not blues but some other excellent harmonica stuff:

Blues Traveler - Hook (great harp solo on this)

The J Geils Band - Whammer Jammer

Loved that.

You mentioned Sonny Boy Williamson's Sugar Mama, and it instantly reminded me of a certain Mr. Gallagher:-
