Yeah very much so! They are essentially a new take on the AC/DC formula but they make it work. I guess they're a bit faster and heavier though. motorizer said:

Sadly not there, but I've seen them a couple of times over the years and they never fail to put on a show. Absolutely cracking live band.Airbourne aside, I also went to see Amon Amarth in Brixton on Saturday. They're a very different kind of band, pretty extreme but have become more polished in their last 3-4 albums.
I was expecting a few props and a bit of a show to go in hand with their music but nothing quite of the scale they delivered.
The first track dropped into a seriously good riff (Ravens Flight) and there was fire, lots of it and timed with various parts of the song(s). Then we had flaming Viking symbols, then more fire, then confetti, then pyrotechnics, then the drum riser (huge Viking helmet with screens for eyes) lifts up 6-7ft followed by huge statues appearing, some more fire and for their last track a huge sea serpent making an appearance. Oh and a few viking fights on stage and Loki making an appearance.
Utterly mental and fantastic with it. I'd say they rivalled Rob Zombie for the amount of stuff they were able to cram into a gig!

Do enjoy looking at this thread. Thanks for the poster who mentioned Airborne. Never tried them before but listening now. Very impressed.
I'll gladly take the credit for that although I'm sure someone mentioned them before my post haha. It's always nice to discover new bands though, even if they're well established and you have a back catalogue to enjoy.
Only just stumbled on this thread but do attend many gigs each year.
This weekend off to the Planet Rockstock festival with Skid Row, Temperance Movement and Uriah Heep being the main stage headliners.
Personal highlight will be the Kris Barras Band on Saturday who I have seen 6 times already this year. Just gets better and better.
Following weekend is then a VIP experience at the King King Christmas party in Lincoln with fantastic support from Stevie Nimmo and Elles Bailey.

Off to see the Darkness on Monday. Not really my cuppa, but the wife likes them and they've got guitars, how bad can it be?
Now that one is my guilty pleasure. Last time I counted I'd seen them about 50 times, including flying to Paris for my birthday to see them. I'm in the video for the Astoria gig as well. Absolutely love them. They are all as mad as a box of frogs, especially Justin who I once moaned at because he wasn't at any of the afterparties I'd been invited to. He raised an eyebrow and replied "Darling, I never go to those they are terribly dull" I'm not doing this tour and that makes me very sad. You never leave a TD gig without a smile on your face, whether fan or not.

Ride tonight in Glasgow.
Hope it's a good'n. Seeing them on Monday in London (The Barbican).A few days later, I'm going to see the Wonder Stuff with support from Jimbob (Carter USM).
That will complete my 2019 gig-goings.
Great memory of Carter from back in the day!

Saw GWAR at the weekend Wasn't really sure what it'd be like but it was excellent..didn't go to the front but still got sprayed with "stuff"
I saw they were playing but would love to one day. They're completely ridiculous and the quality of their music in the 90s was questionable but I've found their albums through their 00's have been pretty good. Shame about their lead singer passing away but good that they've kept the band and it's lunacy going!

Yeah I was unsure what the quality of the music would be like, but to be honest, if they'd just come on in jeans and t shirts and forgot all the ridiculous stage show it would still have been a good gig, enjoyed it.Shame about their lead singer passing away but good that they've kept the band and it's lunacy going!

sounds like it would have completed your 1991 gig-goings too
Ha! Good point. I am middle-aged as you might have guessed!I was never that into Ride first time around, but I've really enjoyed their most recent two albums.
I did see Wonder Stuff back in the day, probably 1992-ish has it happens! Never saw (or was particularly into) Carter USM, but I'll enjoy Jimbob I'm sure.
