I'm hearing a few stories about stuff being delayed. ordered cd off amazon prime this morning and told it's next day delivery confirmed so fingers crossed.
in other news, the Rammstein track/vid is worth a look, but that's for another thread maybe.

Quite a few reporting a no show on day of release but as long as I get what I ordered I'll be happy.
I like the comparison to Bohemian rhapsody, look forward to hearing that.

I heard theead single from the new record yesterday. It's Devin by numbers at this point, all the ingredients are there but it's bland. I wish I knew what happened to his ability to write memorable riffs and hooks, I wish Devin knew too.
Have to agree, having given the latest a listen. I don't think he's bettered Epicloud. One or two tracks stand out, as on most of his albums, but I reckon Epicloud was a high-point. All killer, no filler.AdeTuono said:

The "formula" is great as a baseline, but I think he needs to reduce the quantity and increase the quality (more "Deadhead", if you will)
Interesting that it's dividing opinions among fans. I love it.
I will say it's a serious grower. The first time I heard Stormbending it was like being shot in the face with music. This doesn't have any moments that match that, but the more I listen to it the more it pulls me in.
I'm seeing his acoustic tour at the end of this month and if the Youtube clips are anything to go by it should be very impressive.

For the most part the reviews I've seen have it down as one of his best efforts yet, if not the best. I liked it from the start but it just gets better with every listen.I will say it's a serious grower. The first time I heard Stormbending it was like being shot in the face with music. The "Evening With..." in Leeds was a fantastic experience despite some absolute bellend shouting out requests in the middle of songs and there being a few general idiots (who shouts out in the middle of Kingdom being sung acoustically FFS?).
Devin was noticeably uncomfortable in places but constantly tried to fulfil fan requests even if it took him off course. His presence and skill on stage was something else, proper goosebumps for most of it.
I made a Spotify play list based on the set if anyone is interested, some of what he played was just snippets though and one is a cover so I could only include the original.

There's a few videos on YouTube but he seemed to be filming it all too so hopefully when the tour is over he'll put something out.

I went to Bristol, first time I have seen him since 1993 with Vai. Amazing voice and a funny, insightful guy. Didn't do as many songs in this set but interesting to listen to him talk. He was interrupted by some guy upstairs who asked him to hang on while he went for a piss. Devin went along with this and improvised a song about the guy while he was in the toilet. He was saying that these acoustic shows are the start of a process to perform empath in its entirety in 2021 and confirmed that all three drummers will be on stage for that. That's one show I'm not going to miss.

Some of the ones on the playlist were essentially 30 seconds of him trying to remember how they went rather than whole songs but as someone still trying to get to grips with his vast back catalogue I wanted to try and familiarise myself with them. He also sang Happy Birthday to someone but I didn't include that He was saying that these acoustic shows are the start of a process to perform empath in its entirety in 2021 and confirmed that all three drummers will be on stage for that. Someone who went to Leeds & Bristol suggested there was more Q&A down there, I think he got a bit bored with the Leeds crowd at times as they weren't letting him speak but he read out my question and wowed me generally so I had a great night.
I haven't got a ticket for the regular Empath tour in December yet but I'm really looking forward to seeing how it develops into his end goal, sounds epic.

A couple of days ago he posted up on twitter during the break at the Birmingham gig to say he was lost onstage so I guess he's had enough for now.
